Was not at the game yesterday, (share a season ticket with my brother, can't afford 1 on my own :( ), however watched it on Sky...... But an older guy who works with me was at the game and he opined the fans uneasiness was the reason why the team wobbled towards the end of the first half. He also asked why the fans think they have a god-given right to expect all 3 points. Why are we so jittery? He reckons the reason is down to the "glory-hunting johnny-come-latelys" who have recently come to the Emirates.

I wonder if he is right?

Yes that makes sense! the "plastic fans" fouled the Sunderland player and then sucked the ball into the net with their negativity.
Our away form must be much better since no "plastics" or "Johnny-come-lately" fans attend the away games?

Who are these over expectant fans who think a draw at home to an excellent and well performing Sunderland side is a bad result? they should be ashamed of themselves, a point was more than enough from a game like that. Plastic corporates the lot of them.

For those of you who would settle for a draw at home to Sunderland - my god how times have changed.

Precisely my response to him, how comes our away form at the moment is dire? He then rambled on about the modern day gooners being after nothing BUT glory, manure did not win anything for 26 years and old trafford was always filled.... blah blah... It seems no matter what happens, there will always be 2 camps! I wonder if manure in the modern media dominated world, can afford to go 20 years without winning anything as they did before ol' blue nose?

It's actually ballocks about Old Trafford always being full.I was reading an article over the weekend about a Man Utd v Liverpool game attracting a crowd of 33,000 in the early 90's

  8. Also OT season tickets are no longer a hot item. I read that the waiting list has been decimated, and it's easy to just go and buy one now. Arsenal's list has also been severely whittled down, but not as badly. I was ~18k on the waiting list last year, and I am currently at ~5k.

Fans are not going to games as much because of the cost, and disgust at the way the players behave.

If I was a glory hunting fan Id hardly have been going to watch Arsenal the last 6 years, not alot of glory in what we have achieved over the course of that period.
These so called glory hunting fans being blamed for our problems are not exactly hurting Man U in the success stakes, It goes without saying that every club will have new fans, call them what you like, it goes with success or in being a big club.

You won't hear Barcelona blaming their glory hunting fans if they don't win La Liga this year or Messi complaining and making pathetic excuses for lame performances blaming the fans that pay big money to watch them and fund their lavish lifestyles. Worse this ****e is getting.

You can sense the unease amongst the crowd.
I watched on TV and from the kick off there was almost silence, 27 secs later we're 1-0 up which in previous seasons would have been the catalyst for in creased singing/atmosphere, it seems the fans can only relax enjoy and make noise when we're 2 goals in front.
Watching people drift in and take their seats 10 mins in was like a throwback to 1986

I hate seeing people come in 10-15 mins late and then leave 10-15 mins before the end.
If I had my way, fans would be required to be in the ground 15 mins before kick off and not allowed out before the final whistle.
    Totally unworkable I know.

The only time I had to leave a game early was when I sprained my ankle falling down the steps on the North Bank celebrating a goal against Spurs
and the St John's ambulance man insisted that I go to the treatment room.

They take their seats late because they enjoy the booze more than the football.
    Sad isn't it!

So lets get this right, you weren't at the game but believe some 'old guy at work' who said it was the fans fault the team wobbled.

What utter rubbish; i WAS at the game and only heard the fans singing Come on Arsenal for most of the game.

The reason the team wobbled is because Sunderland put them under pressure and skinned Gibbs and Jenkinson down the flanks.

The fans are not the problem at Arsenal at the moment but under par players are. Get real.

I believed him to a point because, I have seen first hand, when every misplaced pass or missed scoring chance is met with a loud groan. Remember the Eboue booing incident? I have seen the the sarcastic cheers for Alumnia when he makes a routine save, I have heard our fans turn on their own player, seen Arshavin being abused, when he hit a bad run of form, so please don't come on here and tell me our fans are NOT to blame. We only seem to be vociferous when things are not going our way......i.e negative energy!
In most grounds (did you watch the Newcastle game yesterday?), the home crowds are referred to as the 12th man, but us we are like a monkey on the back of our players!
Fair enough we have been spoilt in years gone by, when we had Viera, Petit, DB, Ian Wright, Adams, Henry etc etc, when we would play teams like Sunderland, and expect to thrash them 20-nil, (all we as fans needed to do was turn up) but times have changed.... The fans cannot just turn up and not expect to sing themselves hoarse win/lose/draw...... I have been to matches, were the away fans have out-song us, yet we out-number them 10-1! I think it is time we earnt our stripes as fans!

Is there anyone here who leaves early while at the match? Not trying to name and shame you or anything but I am just completely bemused why anyone would do it.

We have played at the Emirates 7 times this season and won 6 and lost 1. Not bad.

I have not. But when I was at the Olympiakos game, some guy left with 20 mins left. Half of the people in that row had to stand up to let him through. The looks he was given by the people standing up was so awkward and funny. <laugh>
