I've been double vaccinated, take all sensible precautions, don't go out half as much as used to and have just found out that I caught Covid last Friday. I know it was Friday because the app told me - yesterday. I know where because the only time I went out Friday was to go to Marina Vista. My PCR test result came back today positive. I now have to isolate until 23:59 23/07/2021. Vaccination is a barrier, not a preventative.
I didn't say it was did I. Absolutely no point in vaccination though as a road map to any normality when people are terrified to still come out. Get well soon.
Have you got any symptoms ? Would be interesting to know how effective the vaccine is on you. Obviously understand if you didn't want to post them. Cheers.
Hopefully that's as bad as it gets for you and it's a speedy recovery. Keep posting mate, I am sure others will take interest in your unfortunate predicament.
PCR test for me this morning. What a wonderful experience. Slept well but woke up tired, cycling into work made it worse not better, as soon as I got hot I was struggling. Slight hint of snotty nose and sore throat. Still tired now. I think it's the vaccine rather than the real thing but it's neary a week since the second dose.
The self-entitled amongst us won't like that. I would have 'liked' that post but it seems insensitive to do so. Hope her dad fully recovers.
I've written and deleted my response to this 3 times now. The 19th is "freedom day" I believe they are calling it? It won't be for the ones at the front line who are dealing with rising cases and rising hospitalisations. Increased infections lead to more chance of increased mutation and as people are vaccinated the chance of it mutating to avoid the vaccine increases
Sorry, I don't understand - sounds like getting vaccinated helps it find a way to avoid vaccine ? Or should I read it as ''even though people are'' Maybe I'm just being thick, it's still early !
I dont think it has to do with vaccines, but the more who catch it gives it a chance to mutate. Our antibodies have good memories and will recognise a virus it has fought off in the past. if that virus then mutates it wont be recognised. That's my unprofessional opinion like
Chris Whitty is still warning us to be careful. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw further lockdowns in the future. Particularly if people don't behave sensibly after Monday. BBC News - Covid hospital numbers could get scary - Prof Chris Whitty https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57858864
FWIW - our lass has had both jabs, second one (Oxford) was ages ago and she tested positive 10 days ago and has just finished isolating. Tbh, it floored her; nee energy, coughing, aching all over, loss of smell and taste (still hasn't come back properly), loss of appetite. I had similar symptoms and felt pretty damn rough, but done 2 lateral flow tests and went for a PCR and all negative.
Loads aren't caring or being careful now, some have adopted that attitude weeks ago, so obviously in a fortnight or so new infections will be off the scale. It's probably in the hundreds of thousands now. Still absolutely loads don't get tested, some don't even know they are carriers. Might as well just go into lockdown now before the inevitable.
According to ONS one in thirty carry the virus in the Northeast. Considerably the worst rate in England.
Sounds like me, although I haven't lost my sense of taste (yet - Ed Sheeran is still a ****), sense of smell went this morning, but everything else - bang on. Have been invited to a trial of a new testing procedure (more accurate, quicker results) so waiting for the test kit to arrive - which gets couriered back for analysis.
Great Britain has the worst new daily infection rate in the world. More than China, where the virus originated, and who have a population 20 times more than us, more than the rest of Europe combined And where is the worst affected part of the country with the highest rate of new daily infections? You guessed it - The "desolate wastelands of North East England" . And we are about to have the most relaxed regime in the world from Monday, so called "freedom day". More infections means more chances for the virus to mutate to find a way to infect the already vaccinated. So Boris Johnson puts France on the red list ! This would be pure Monty Python if it wasn't so deadly serious. Iam incredulous.
Indeed, I notice there was no mention of the worst case scenario model mentioned this time. There will be one, would love to know what it is. No doubt it will get leaked like everything else by the likes of hypocrites like those pricks on sky news. The Chinese must be pissing themselves.
