We are all speculating but as far as I know we’ve paid fees for Harper / Burns / Fraser / Hladky and the rest have been on frees. Surely Fraser on his own could have cost us £2m?

Have we any money in for our players that have left or have we given them all away.

We’ve got £1m in for Dozzell and will get something for Gibbs but I’m sure it’s knock down prices for Lankester / Drinan / Hawkins to get shot of them quickly and the rest are listed as free transfers.

That would put it at the lower end as you say.

But doing a bit of digging it might have originated from a post on a Sunderland message board that based our fee on the offer Wigan apparently made, which was no better than a guess.

So bishop is set to go too? Along with Downes, Dozzel and Lankester that’s all our best yoof team grads aside From wolfy that have offered hope. Sad to see them dispatched but it’s telling that none could be accommodated in the Gegenpress that cook and klopp so adore. it suggests they just don’t have the physical or technical qualities to do this style and when u see who he has signed the 4-2-3-1 is really taking shape now with the midfielders and strikers signed. Burns and Fraser are going to be so much fun and piggot must be rubbing his hands together as he drifts off to sleep each night anticipating next season …. Problem is we must strengths our defence. Kvy can play on the left so a right wing back and two good cb’s will be required or we’ll be like Newcastle under keegan in the 90’s!

I think we still need more strikers and a CDM too.

None of those players have been let go based on their ability. It’s cleansing the losing, negative and lazy culture, attitude and psychology to have a total reboot. The only reason KVY has been spared is because he has barely been involved with the first team.

I agree, none of them have actually given their all to earn the right for a place in the team this season, maybe Dobra is the only one.
A total reboot is what was needed and they are certainly going about it in the right way and putting their money where their mouths are!!

I have some sympathy for a couple of players but Paul Cook can only go on the information he has.

By far our best prospect, Woolfy, did nowhere near enough last season.

I think his Season was hamstrung by having to play alongside an equally inexperienced CB in McGuiness out of necessity.

I think that is the crux of alot of went on, was it the individuals players fault they didn't perform or have they not been developed properly. I think since Evans came in we've had too many players with potential but lacked established first team football at a good level particularly the past couple of seasons.

It's a shame to see so many of the youngster leave but bar Downes and possibly Woolfenden none have established themselves consistently in the first team, they all had talent but whether they haven't made it through work rate, luck, injuries or poor coaching management they haven't made it here.

Downes is the really surprising one for me, he must have indicated he does not want to be here as he is one of the only players from the past few seasons who has come out with much credit, he looks a very good player for this level and would seem to fit into Cook's style of play

Like most on here, know nothing about this lad, but, at almost 20 and to not have played one senior match (even for Hartlepool) makes you wonder, although it seems a number of higher ranked clubs were (and still) interested in him

His wages would be insane. If he came on League One wages then well worth a punt, but can’t see it.

I just thought it might possibly be the type of headline signing the new owners could sanction, similar to signing Pogba for Phoenix??

Wow, if they have got £100m or so to blow on a player maybe we can afford Carroll!

I’m not sure Carroll would have the pull of Didier Drogba but he would certainly cause problems for League One defences and give everyone around the club a buzz.

Hes an expensive sick note now, a shadow of his former self who can't play 10 full matches a season, a waste of time and money.
