What ID though? Is there a universal ID that would be acceptable worldwide on all platforms? Would it preclude under-18's from having accounts?
Presumably most/all? countries have forms of ID. The social media sites would have to be set up whereby you select your country to allow you to input the relevant form of ID number. There would then have to be some kind of check to make sure you aren't making up a number or whatever I guess. For youth, when signing up, there would have to be an option to select your age, and then it asks for a parents ID until they reach an age that they have their own. Hey I don't know how this would work in reality, and theres probably better/easier options out there, I'm not tech minded at all. But there needs to be a way to stop people hiding behind throwaway accounts that are the breading grounds for so much racism/hate/bullying etc online. When people are no longer able to brazenly waltz around verbally attacking people with the safety of online anonymity. When they know that they can easily be caught and banned from social media and football stadiums if they make these comments online, and maybe more severe punsishments depending on the nature of the crime. Then you'd think it should make the social media world a much better place. And with social media being the monster that it is, the unofficial overlord of modern life for many, cleaning that world up would hopefully help to make the real world a less racist, discriminatory, hateful place too. I do realise this is all very idealistic and probably not realistic. And sure we live in hope for better times, but the only way hope becomes reality is if big changes are made at the top. And making changes to the way social media is run could be the first step towards a less racist future.
While watching the game it occurred to me that England were following the Saints blue print of get a goal and sit back and defend, it usually does not work out very well for us. I am with you, we should have pressed them much more than we did. My man of the tournament for England was Declan Rice, I think he will make a great England captain in the future.
if we make the finals of the WC next year here is some advice. Get yourself a 10 year old who is in the finals of his own football tournament. As extra time approaches, the 10 year old needs to get chronic adominal pain and be doubled over in tears. Now you're suddenly googling 'where is the appendix' and not worrying about football. Get one of the other football mums to come over with some essential oils. Hold his nose and force the foul smelling **** down him. As penalties arrive he will need to be carried to the dunny. Leave him to do a **** while you stand halfway between the bathroom and the living room. Once the penalites are over, so is the 10 year old's drama. Throw him in the car and race to the tournament so he doesn't miss too much of the first half. Trust me, the pain of penalties fades as quickly as the worries over appendicitis. When a neighbour comes over later and says 'sorry for your loss' you too will have a sudden moment of dread thinking someone has died. Recommend this method. Worked for me. 5 stars out of 5.
Looking back although Southgate deserves all sorts of credit for what he has achieved with this team and he deserves to stay in charge, ultimately that loss was on him. He has set the team up set up well and sorted out the defence which has been England’s weakest area for so long. But poor in game management cost us that final, as it did against Croatia three years ago. It was obvious that Mancini’s changes were smothering the midfield and Italy had begun to dominate, he had adequate time to readjust the side but just sat back and waited until Italy scored to fix the problem and by then it was too late. He needs to learn to be a proactive manager, not a reactive manager, maybe there is a coaching adjustment that could help with this, I don’t know. We cannot afford to bottle these opportunities.
That's great, well done to those who have now probably ensured that any future top level competition for which Wembley etc al would be suitable, will be held elsewhere. Just think, you won't have to break in, ticketless etc, you'll ensure that future younger generations will be denied the thrill of seeing THEIR team play, and for good measure put thousands off ever attending such events in this country again. On a different note I just wonder what exactly was going on with the security arrangements anyway, it seems a shame we have to have these walls of steel around events like these, but on this occasion appeared to have been found totally inadequate to deal with the morons mentioned earlier?
they lost their first game but won everything else with a goal difference of +30! And thanks, he was sweet as after the trip to the loo.
Dear oh dear. Ironic really given we're meant to be the Scummers. Looks like the actual scum is coming from down the road.
They could punish them by giving them all professional contracts, and forcing them to play for the first team their whole careers.
