By contrast I’ve got so used to managing my expectations from watching Town that England greatly exceeded my expectations
Getting back to the new found enthusiasm in the supporters we must not go down the same route as we did a few seasons ago with Lambert, it's a fragile thing that can disappear as quickly as it arrived and the onus is firmly in the Clubs hands to keep it bubbling, the fans have shown faith by the increase in season ticket sales so now its time for the Club to respond and get us out of this lousy division by signing decent players.
Well said gaffer We are in good hands now. Ashton will be great in the transfer window, getting whatever money is available for the want-away players and getting deals over the line for the players that Cook wants. We won't have all of our business done before the season starts and there will continue to be players added to our squad well after the first ball is kicked. It won't all be perfect in the beginning but we will be competitive and improve vastly as the season progresses. I think gaffers view of top ten in the autumn and then a steady climb up the table is how our season will go.
The trouble with the majority of football fans is…………………… Here’s hoping in the end…… And we don’t sign any………
I admire all the optimism but we are in a competition with 24 clubs for three promotion places. Money helps but it isn’t everything. It’s a huge positive to reverse the decline of the previous owner but I don’t expect us to storm the league this season. My expectation is to build some momentum over the season to be in the play offs. If we do go up this season it’s a big brucie bonus but I think it will be the season after.
Overrated imo, he looked ok the few times i saw him but nothing special!! We move on, he didn't want to stay.....so jog on son!! I mean, he's gonna be 19 this year and hardly knocking on the door, so can't be that good!!
Town look set to sign MK Dons, attacking midfield, Scott Fraser. Scored 14 goals last season, seems like another very good signing and at 26 years old, the perfect age! I personally love the way we are going about our business, what a bloody breath of fresh air!
Still a bit concerning we haven't signed any CB's yet....Wolfy and Toto partnership doesn't really inspire me
Another midfielder linked today…seems we are going for possession football and if you have the ball you don’t need to defend..
Well, it's great that we are not messing around in the transfer market, that's 8 now and the last two have 36 goals between them from last season, what's not to like. Think they will now look at bringing in a defender or two, along with Celina and maybe Crooks
I’m trusting the new regime to be carrying out due diligence with regards to the physical condition of all these new recruits and along with better training/lifestyle management we’ll avoid a lot of the injuries the squad suffered in the past. We’ll need it with a smaller squad.
I liked the sound of the first few signings then it went a bit patchy but impressed with the last2, at last we are signing players of a good age who have performed well/consistently at this level for at least more than one season
Definitely more encouraged by the last two signings. It’s hard to see what more we could be doing. I don’t think we should expect to have it all our own way though - we can see how simple it is to bring strong players in but it’s not so easy to win football matches. Furious at Evans for putting us in this position.
If we add Celina to this new team it’s going to be bristling with pace and quality abs goals from various positions. Haven’t seen that since Joe Royals team. a quality CB would be good… Id love to know more about the finances of these deals and the wages. Maybe we’re just being competitive and offering a big club that’s on the up without having to pay over the odds.
I am guessing we will have spent about £3m - £5m in fees so far but I don’t think the wage bill will change much because we had players used to Championship wages. Bishop is set to complete a move to MK Dons.
