Given Gloucs were 61-0 at one point, to bowl them out for 229 is very good indeed. Now need to bat well.
The commentators at the Surrey v Somerset game have been discussing Essex's position. If that match is called a draw, as is probable, Essex are out of contention for Div 1. Oh dear, how sad.
This is just what the doctor ordered, a substantial opening partnership scored at more than 3.5 per over.
A good solid batting start, very unlike Hants! Don't know if this has been raised already & potentially tempting a clatter of wickets. I was assuming we would need to beat Glous to finish above them, and finishing in the top 2 of group 1 might be very unlikely without. But we need to out score Glous by 7 points to finish above. If Hants got to 400 for 3 off less than110 overs would declaring ensure whilst Hants got 8 bonus points would Glous only get 1 if they weren't given the opportunity to bowl their full 110 over allocation for bonus points? Big longshot but if CDG comes in a bit early & produces a similar innings to last week then who knows!
These two are trying, I can't remember the last century opening partnership for Hants. 50 for Weatherley, well played, credit where it's due.
Hampshire bossing this so far. I was fuming when Hampshire didn't bowl out Surrey, need a better result this time.
Somerset playing for time at the Oval. The longer they can hang on, the more joy Leach and co. will get when they bowl. As I write Jack Brooks is caught, 429 all out. Just need 6 wickets now!
Say this pair go on to a 200+ partnership I wonder if Hants would consider promoting CDG up the order given that 400/2 within 110 overs would see a scenario that Hants could draw and still get top 2.
Poor drop again, Holland having a charmed life, still dropped catches have cost us dearly this season.
