Thanks for the offer of the ticket Stroller, It made a nice change to get out and see some live sport and have some man talk. ( After being in lockdown for sixteen months with three women ) T'was a good good day. The weather was superb too. It was a shame that the cricket was a bit of a formality but also good to see Morgan and Root get us home. Another plus was the lack of 'Please don't take me home' song sung by the crowd. It's much more civilised at the London cricket grounds.
Nice to see a hastily cobbled together England team of 'who's he?'s easily dismantle Pakistan yesterday.
I haven't heard of half of them ( effectively a 'B Team') , but they comprehensively destroyed Pakistan. That's two teams ( Sri Lanka and Pakistan ) that have toured here and have been totally useless. Hopefully they'll be more competitive in a few years.
I was looking at tickets for tomorrow’s ODI Lords…..there are plenty left and not that bad at £100 for a days entertainment. However the weather forecast put me off with it being a rain filled morning/afternoon so can’t see a full days play. If you ever fancy another game let me know mate, as long as I’m off I would be very interested.
Hi mate, I hope you're well. We went ( Me & Strolls ) to the Oval last week, it was a bloody good day out. I don't think tomorrow is worth bothering with unfortunately. It's looking like a washout! We paid £45 for our seats and eventually sat where we wanted. I'd do the old trick of sticking your money on Italy. If they win you'll be sort of happy ... but if England win you'll be happier. I'm always happy to meet anyone on here to go to a match, whatever the sporting occasion.
Have you looked at the new ‘100’ competition? Thought of doing when of those but I’m not too sure…..I reckon 20/20 is just about right for a short game….. Can’t bet against England mate, I’d feel terrible if I did …..though logic tells me that the Italians should be firm favourites. Saving a few quid to stick on QPR to win the league as I genuinely think we’ve got a chance….missed the boat at 33/1 but might have a few quid on at 16/1, which was the last price I saw….purely as an interest bet.
I'm not keen on the new 100 competition. Like you I thought 20/20 was about right, but it took a while to get used to it. I prefer the 'Test's' and One Day'ers . I'm really not sure about the gambling stuff. My dad was Irish and bet on anything and that was the extent of his conversation. Thanks to him boring me with his winners and losers, it put me off for life. I've never got involved.
Not a bad thing mate….never made it a secret on here that I’ve lost a small fortune over the years and the addiction never leaves you…..still struggle now to only stick to interest bets….self excluding from my internet accounts helped
I’ll send you an invitation to the Leamington Spa bowling festival*. If you are need of a cure for insomnia. Or the local tennis club tournament. It’s wicked, particularly the under 13 competition.** * Leamington hosts (in non Covid times) the National green bowling championships every year, and is also the venue for the Commonwealth games when it comes to Brum. ** Leamington Tennis Club is the first lawn tennis club in the world, founded in 1873. So **** you Wimbledon.
Welcome back Stainesy. There's a few pundits pushing Rangers as a good outside bet for next season. I'm on at 25/1 for the title and, more realistically, 5/2 for a top six finish.
Hope you’re well mate. I think we were massively overpriced at 33’s…..it’ll all probably come to **** but I reckon we could just have a chance this year
England's white ball strength in depth on display again today at Lord's. Salt and Vince setting about the Pakistan bowling with a partnership of 84 off 10 overs so far.
A real contrast between these two batters. Vince classy and elegant and Salt all strength and aggression.
After a bit of a middle-order collapse, when it looked like we might be bowled out for under 200, England's tail has got the score up to 247, which might just be about par in these conditions. Could be a close game.
It looks like the weather forecasters were wrong. We haven't had any rain where I live since the early hours of this morning. I hope Stainsy didn't take my advice and went to Lords.
It was a well read catch. Hasan Ali has gone berserk and smashing sixes for fun. It's made it entertaining.
