He duly obliges. The extra distance helping today. I named 3 horses in the little write - up and they all finished in the top 3, DeBromhead's setting a good pace at big odds before fading back into 3rd. Shame I seldom do tricast bets or that but very happy with the winner.

It wasn't at Chester and not one I was looking at but I see Stag Night won at 9/2 over at Navan.

<laugh> sometimes they are 33-1 for a reason!. Dhabab beaten fairly - oh well .....

Dart landed on Boundless Power in the cavalry charge at Ascot next. I really should practise my dart chucking!

Just watched the Bunbury Cup and the way they are kicking that ground up you'd think it was a wet February.

And the going remains good to firm ......

Fundamental was up against a top weight in top form.

Yet another big field puzzle next from York .... Surrey Pride seems to be the best, a nap for me

Native Trail didn't win by far but he did well to close the gap from off the pace. He managed to hold off Masekela, who looked like he got lost in the mud last time at Ascot. Dhabab perhaps didn't see it out today and it would be no surprise to see him back to 6F next time.

Looking at them today Native Trail appealed as the horse for the future. He looks like a mile will be no issue for him and this was a form progression of more than a stone today. He will need another stone before season's end to be a realistic Guineas horse and he is entered in the National Stakes on the 12th of September, following the pattern of previous Godolphin runners. Generally 16/1 for the 2000 Guineas now, a more emphatic win would have probably seen him shorter but he looks a work in progress to me and I was pleased he landed the bet today and more than paid for his Ante-Post flutter at 40/1.

Winter Power does it for me, great power packed run.

    That's all folks :)

EDIT: Over 11 races, I ended a tenner to the good!
Whinge: Ed Chamberlain has pissed me off massively since the announcement of Galileo's demise, never missing an opportunity to being it back into the discussions, when the rest of the team were concentrating on the races in hand. Get over yourself Ed, It IS a sad event, but really ....

I deserted Starman reluctantly and as ever they bounce in. I did have him with Dragon Symbol in a reverse forecast though and with that paying pennies under £18 it was still a nice profit on the race. With Native Trail winning earlier it was a good day's punting.

Nice to see Ed Walker get a good winner but the ground will be key for Starman moving forward.

Supremacy set off at a suicidal lick and that was pretty much a numb-nuts tactic over 6F. You really wonder sometimes. I felt this may just be a shade sharp for Creative Force and it looked that way, as he ran really well but unable to reach the ones who fought it out. Dragon Pulse did nest of the 3YO horses, with Rohaan looking like he may have reached his ceiling now.

That looked a 120 performance from Starman and he will be hard to beat on today's showing.

I see Wonderful Tonight's Hardwicke win got another little polish today. Hukum was third to her and he won today at York. Broome was second in the Royal Ascot race and he had already won in France since, while Sir Ron Priestly was 7th to Wonderful Tonight before turning over Al Aasy next time. Nice boosts to the form.
