Good Morning, It's Friday 9th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Could former Gunner prodigy be on his way to ER? Former Arsenal youth prodigy Kelechi Nwakali could be on his way back to the Premiership; this time with Leeds. The Nigerian has has a disappointing time with Spanish outfit SD Huesca since his arrival in 2019. The midfielder has only made ten appearances during this time. He spent the majority of 2021 on loan at Segunda División Alcorcón. Despite these inconsistencies, Nwakali is highly regarded, with a host of top flight clubs are being linked to him. It is expected that Huesca are ready to negotiate a deal following their relegation from La Liga, not to mention the 23yo only has a year left on his contract! The news first broke about Nwakali last week, since then various sources are claiming that he is on Victor Orta's short list! please log in to view this image Auf wiedersehen Kiko Shot stopper Kiko Casilla is heading back to La Liga imminently, albeit a season long loan. The news broke from LUFCFANZONE, a well respected social media source who had spoken to Casilla's agent. ‘In the next days, Kiko will move from Leeds to Spain’s La Liga on a one year loan’. ‘Kiko loves the club, and I saw him really happy there in the past, but he needs to play’. ‘Illan is doing a very good job, so now it is time to move on’. Kiko is currently in Leeds, however is expected to travel to Spain on Tuesday. Casilla lost his number one jersey to Illan Meslier following his suspension for apparently racially abusing Charlton's on loan striker Jonathan Leko during a league match in September 2019. Due to the Frenchman's unbelievable form, Casilla has spent the majority of his time since, on the bench. The former Real Madrid keeper is a popular figure amongst the players and Management staff. He has also been instrumental in helping Meslier in his progression. please log in to view this image
Morning all, So I've just seen a tweet asking: I wonder if we’ve got to the point where if someone asks if we’re Leeds fans we can just say ‘yeah’ without the obligatory addition of either ‘for my sins’ or ‘well someone has to be’ I have to say this has got my back right up. In my many years supporting Leeds, including some of the darkest days a football club can have, I have never felt the need to qualify my support with these comments. Hell, if anyone had said these to me they would get a sharp comment in reply. Am I overreacting in thinking that if supporting the club was so embarrassing that you need to add these comments then you should do one?
Agree, I'm used to the comments from other clubs fans and know they're mostly tongue in cheek but no way should any of us be embarrassed by supporting Leeds. My only time having any sort of resentment was towards Bates as owner, not to the club, he tried his hardest to make us a laughing stock though.
The only follow up to I support Leeds ice ever used is "that's dirty Leeds scum to you" when someone calls us dirty Leeds or Leeds scum.
I always say to people who regular say to me you support leeds what! or God I hate Leeds. I always reply with you only hate us because you wish your club and support was like ours. Or you try to have a intelligent discussion and ask the question "Why do you hate Leeds" in which they come back with rubbish like emmm well everyone does or I don't know I just do it's LEEEDS. or they say they are dirty cheatin barstewarts then i say explain to me how and why and they can't even put a sentence together. End of the day I'm proud to support my team. I'm living in Whitley Bay in the NorthEast everyone I see in Leeds Shirt gets a Leeds salute and 9 times out of 10 I will get one back because we are a different breed. Only one thing I won't do again is go to Newcastle on a Friday night with Leeds Shirt on while on the beer In my younger days I I had no fear and thought I could take on the world. I soon realised that is a line you don't cross and was sheer stupidity. Beer and opposing fans don't mix. I nearly ended up in Hospital through no fault of my own. But in general I wear my colours in pride and always will do, till my grave in which I hope they come with me.
I remember walking along the beach front in Tenerife with my Leeds shirt on (around 2002) with my girlfriend (now wife) and a guy walked past with his wife and muttered "scum" under his breath as we passed. I turned and asked him to say that louder. I took my sunglasses off and passed them to my girlfriend and started walking towards the guy. He immediately apologised and started muttering about it being football banter and backing away. The guy must have been 30 to 35 and I was just 21 or so. At what point did he ever think that was acceptable behaviour? Did he think it was OK because I had a Leeds shirt on? Did he think walking past and calling me a name was going to be accepted by me? It's the only time that has really happened and I'd do the same again now. As for being embarrassed about being a Leeds fan. Not at all. When everyone was taking the piss as we went bankrupt I just used to shrug my shoulders and say "what are you telling me for? I wasn't running the club!". It used to leave them with nowhere to go really.
Watched the England v Scotland game in Whitley Bay, cracking Indian later too. Man there's a lot of Indian restaurants there for a place of its size
good morning to Matt and co from a dull Bardsey I read we were after the young Danish forward who scored against England and I thought he was excellent well worth a punt but Doc how much would he cost? O and about EnglandI am not convinced we have a keeper Pickford should have saved the free kick being badly positioned and his distribution was awful .We are getting rid of our clown dont buy Pickford
I was in luxor Egypt some years back, when we were in league one. Laying round pool with my leeds flip flops on, they had the badge on the bottom. Egyptian waiter walks by "ah, leeds United. Viduka, Smith..." big smile on his face. My mate lay there in his Newcastle shirt. Waiter turned to him and asked who he supported. My mate sticks his chest out all proud. "Newcastle United." Waiter smiles politely while looking confused and looking back at me said "leeds Leeds Leeds" before walking off. My mate was pissy for the rest of the day.
Whitley is nowt like it was mate it was very popular in its time every weekend it was a stag and hen hotspot and was choker block with people from all over England a bit like Whitby and scarbados for a holiday spot. today it's a ghost town. Yes there are alot of eatery's and is slowly picking up again but it will never be the same. Tynemouth a couple of mile up now is the drinking spot for weekends. But I will never move I love it here I love being 5 mins walk from the beach and plenty cycling routes which is my 2nd passion to footy.
Cannot see it happening Mike. Sampdoria paid £7m for him and now want £35m.good player but not as good as Raphinha and I cannot see us paying much more than we did for him for another winger
Yes, looked like it needed some tlc, beach was lovely for the 15 minutes we saw of it. Watched the game in the Rockecliffe Arms, you know it? Tynemouth was mentioned by a few about how nice it is.
i still regularly wear a leeds shirt/t shirt around town, and have never experienced real abuse, had a few dirty leeds banter but it was said jokingly, and this is going waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back as well, and i am only 10 miles from scumchester so the predominate shirt in town is obvious followed now by citeh.....and anyway if it was abusive they would have got it back .......i might as well have had to live up to "dirty leeds"
Yeah been in there a few times. but not since covid. South Parade was the street in the day with all the action Fitzgerald's easy street, Deep etc had some good times down there and Idols with the topless barmaids was always the end of the night place lol. Coastline is ace down here plenty of wildlife if you into that. The best bit I like is you can actually ride virtually to Scotland hugging the coastline on cycleways, Get some good weather and calling into pubs along the way you can't beat it gets you out of all the hussle bussle of citylife and you can actually breathe fresh air.
