Whys it not been possible? Our targets should have been drawn up and bids put in at the first opportunity.
On a side note if Hume doesn't sign by the end of the week we should tell him to feck off and deduct last season medical costs from his final wage. He's clearly not the kind of player we want and who is prepared to wear his heart on his sleeve for us, he'd quite happily sit back and see how much other teams are prepared to offer him. Theres loyalty for you after a season of getting paid handsomely without even kicking a ball hardlys
Over a week into July and all we’ve done is a sign a young keeper, the teams not going to have much time to gel at all, they can’t use the excuse ‘it’s just how this window has been for clubs’ look at wigan
i think that is a valid point and i honestly think if a club has looked after a lad for a few years they are entitled to at least some cash...annoyed the feck out of me when the ginger p1ss biscuit walked away for nowt, not fussed where he went as his intended career path nosedived dramatically but to be able to mess the club around as he did just to leg it is all wrong, especially with the costs needed for a player these days.
No but it would have got the ball rolling and allowed us to see if a deal was possible, and if not we then move on to other targets. It would have also given us alot more time to negotiate because the way things are looking now most of our deals will be done with the new season a whisker away, which is far from good preparation. We just dont seem to have a plan and that worries me.
A young Chinese Strike sensation is booked in for a medical tomorrow apparently. Fu Kin Nowan will hopefully be officially announced by the end of the day.
The most frustrating thing is that you just know that in October LJ will be saying he hasn’t had long enough to work with the new signings as they arrived late in pre season
This is the perfect example. Easy to sign players nee bugger wants, or pay over the odds for free agents. Imagine if we had signed Power and Maguire like our so called rivals! I would be giving up on this season already. The good news is we arent fallung for the same old serial failures who havent got success on their CVs.
I know I’m just being a whinging bed wetter, but this is the first preseason in what 4 or 5 years that hasn’t been disrupted by an uncertain takeover situation. And everyone was saying it’s great that we have more time to get stuff done. But for whatever reason we are signing players later than normal. A few weeks back Bob over the road posted that no signing could be made until the 20th June as they were waiting for the board meeting to sign off plans and budgets etc. It seemed ridiculous at the time but earlier this week the Steve Davison minutes said exactly that happened at the board meeting. Maybe luck on Bobs part, but it just feels like the club have understandably taken a “calm” approach and ended up being surprised at then how much of a scramble it will be. Just feels like a lack of decisiveness. As I say, bed wetting and just natural pessimism. But yeh.
He’d be justified to do so in my opinion. He’s spoken a lot about the importance of preseason. He’s now had two weeks (a third of it) without what will probably/hopefully be about three quarters of our starting line up. He’s potentially being dealt a bad hand by the recruitment team here.
I think putting the players and staff on furlough caused this. We'll have made enquiries etc, but not been able to put the wheels in motion. When you hear a players interview, they generally know about the deal weeks before it gets done. Days since furlough lifted, 11. Think the next week or two will see massive progress in the market. If we end up with better quality than our rivals, that should offset the delay.
Yeh, hopefully this all gets forgotten quite quickly. I’m just nervous that the club are making similar mistakes to before despite all the good talk
