Shout Grendel. Came from the Dark wins at 5/1. Made a note to back this lovely grey at one of the evening meetings

When all the races are on one channel it is just shop fodder for the bookies - barely time for a preview of any race, as soon as one race finishes they go straight to the next and, worst of the worst, the dreaded split screen.

May not have won either way but the jockey couldn't have went down more dead avenues had he been asked to do so purposely.

    What a roller coaster...

As they passed the line thought Ivor just failed to get up...then on freeze frame thought he had....then called 2nd in the photo...then obvious on seeing the print he had actually won....then result changed to dead heat due to faulty mirror...and now Bet 365 like most books have now called both horses as Winners....so after all that its a 11-1 Winner<laugh>

Wasn't expecting this ground. Apparently testing at Haydock. Confidence knocked somewhat

The ground came right for St Mark's Basilica and he wins easily. Obviously not to be opposed on soft ground

On soft ground Oddy. Unbeaten on it but never won on fast ground (0 from 3)

Not sure I'd put too much emphasis on his 2YO form Ron - this is the season that matters and he is unbeaten as a 3YO - French Guineas, French Derby and has now beaten his elders. York for the Juddmonte International next?

Maybe but I'll wait to see how he goes on a sound surface before getting too excited.

PS Just noticed that according to rP the ground had turned to good by the 3rd race. I find that hard to believe given how tired Mishrif finished. Timeform records it as Good to soft. Even so that was impressive and hopefully we have a good'un <ok>

Yh rough trip, caught wide early and had to use some to secure position, just didnt have the gears to get out of trouble in the straight and blocked multiple times as you say. Probably just lost a step at 6yo as the stats suggest its very difficult to win at that age. Doubled in price out to 14s on betfair pre race but no conspiracy I dont think.
