Some time between the first 2 races at Doncaster I’ll be having a precautionary colonoscopy (I’ve reached the age where it is recommended). Night Terrors in the first race (Appropriate as I have already had the first dose of clean-out fluid this evening) Strikeback in the second (hoping I can avoid this in my trousers on the way to the appointment)
French play 4.49 Compiegne-Great Dream Each Way @ 14-1 [Paddy Power] 4 places Not bad odds as won last race
The preparation is worse than the colonoscopy, I'm sick of the ****ing sachets. I've had three already.
Newton Abbot 4.50 Danboru This horse is a course winner and has a good record when running in handicap chases on good ground (form reads 212). Stable record in handicap chases at Newton Abbot over the last 5 seasons not bad for each way purposes: runs 20 wins 6 places 1 PL 29.40 Stable amongst the winners this week. Danboru's 2nd at Chepstow last time out after a 130 day break was promising. Should be fitter today.
A day at the races for me today when i get to go to Haydock for tonights meeting... Can't wait as it's the first trip back to a course for what seems like ages, Betfair Chase day was my last visit, it just seems a lot longer somehow... Anyway, bits and bobs to do this morning before a little study time and off i go...!!! Any thoughts on the card to day will be greatly appreciated...
Just taken my 3rd one. At least the stink reduces with each sachet - when I go now it is completely odourless. Which is a miracle in my case
I like these early-season juvenile hurdle races and David Pipe is making hay with Koi Dodville, already twice victorious in his short hurdling career and interestingly still an entire. Can he secure the hat-trick under a double penalty at Newton Abbot today? Not many takers at 2/5 according to Oddschecker and there are a couple of interesting flat recruits in Moneykenny and Tara Iti. Should be worth a watch on Sky Sports Racing.
Had mine last week. The female driver was no good at taking corners. Felt like an alien was about to rip out my stomach. Hope you enjoyed the "preparation"
I had my first one 7 years ago (aged 45) as my father had bowel cancer (successfully treated). I did that one without sedative and it was only the very attractive nurse stroking my cheek that kept me sane as he went round on of my hairpin bends Am going for the dual luxury of a sedative and carbon dioxide (absorbed into the body so you don't spend a couple of hours farting like a goat afterwards) today
Well I know, started mid-80's for me. Major one in hospital undoubtedly saved my life as they took-out a microscopic polyp which had turned nasty. Had no trouble since, but had to have regular checks of course. Guess I got used to them in the end. Patients get knocked-out for a few minutes nowadays, but I have never bothered, not that bad. Good luck, it'll be OK, but a sensible thing to have done.
Well after a bit of late lunch, roast beef and onion on a seeded arm with a honey mustard sauce, these are my tentative selections for Haydock tonight... (Oh, my lunch was only a 6/10, the bread wasnt up to much...) 5:35 - Punta Arenas & Eclipse De Lunar 6:08 - Lotus Rose 6:38 - Strongbowe & Mr Wagyu 7:08 - Out The Hat, Barneys Bay & Churchill Bay 7:38 - Out In Yorkshire 8:08 - Monhammer 8:40 - Jet Set Go & Willing To Please Just looking forward to a good day out at the racing, so fingers crossed a couple of these come in to really make it a grand day out...
