Good Morning. It's Monday 28th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds eye Barca ace to end LB nightmare Junior Firpo is the latest in a long line of left backs being linked to a Summer move to Elland Road according to the Yorkshire Evening Post. The 24yo joined Barcelona from Real Betis two years ago, and has made 24 appearances for the Catalan giants, netting twice. Being that Firpo plays second fiddle to Jordi Alba, an opportunity to play regular first team football in the Premiership must be tempting, even if it does mean leaving the Camp Nou. Leeds can be heartened that the Yorkshire Evening post are a reliable source; their Chief football writer Graham Smyth was quoted on his twitter account confirming, 'Firpo was on Victor Orta's short list'. Unfortunately for the Whites, Napoli and West Ham have also registered their interest. please log in to view this image Cunha deal 'close' Leeds are close to signing Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha for €27m (23.1m). Italian journalist Rudy Galetti ran with the story over the weekend, but has picked up pace ever since. Cunha only joined Hertha Berlin 18 months ago, from fellow Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig for €18 (15.4m). The 22yo signed a five year contact, leaving Hertha Berlin firmly in the driving seat regarding Cunha's future. However, the German outfit have just signed Kevin Prince Boateng. Does this mean they are ready to part with the Brazilian U23 International. He can play on the left of a front three, or as a central striker, giving Bielsa that flexibility he desires! Multiple sources this morning are saying that 'a deal is close'! please log in to view this image Grealish heads for City Multi media reports this morning suggest that an 88m transfer fee has been agreed between Aston Villa and Manchester City over England star Jack Grealish. The 25yo has stood out in the Villa side for many seasons for his creativity, winning admirers from pundits and Managers alike! If Grealish is worth 88m, where does that put Kalvin Phillips?
Morning all If Smyth is correct and we are really going after young Junior Firpo, brilliant. We need to keep in mind what Smyth has said on LBs before over the last month. Victor Orta has a shortlist of LB Yes Javi Galen is on the list, but he isnt the top name there is another player top of the list and Victor is keeping silent. So if Smyth does know something on Firpo you have to assume he was top of Orta’s list or Smyth is talking pants? I posted a clip of Firpo destroying Kylian Mbappe on the weekend thread. Looks good and he played out of position as RB to stop the PSG flyer and he never got past Firpo once. With regard to Cunha I hope its right but have my doubts simply becauseBielsa has said he does not want any players at the Olympics because it would mean not attending pre season, and he refused Meslier from representing France. So cant see him making an exception for Cunha. As for the Grealish thing, if Romano hasnt mentioned it, it isnt happening. This is the latest from 2 days ago
If you click on the above tweet another one opens up stating Man City will not discuss Grealish until after the Euros
Maybe Bielsa realises that he has absolutely no adequate cover for Meslier and that's why he can't allow him to play in the Olympics but would make an exception for Cunha and would be prepared to wait till say October for him to get up to speed?
Doubt Smyth has even seen the list. again he will just be going off rumours but within the club with not many people being there at the moment. He's in Phil Hays old position but he ain't Phil Hay is he. He may be a little further up the ladder than most sources but he doesn't sit with Orta and discuss players and contracts over a beer lol. What will be will be. Its got to be close now though to that first player entering the door. Bielsa-Harrison-Alioski surely should be sorted this week. This u23 kid from Birmingham also looks very close as he never travelled with the club to Scotland for a pre season trip.
Morning all i am so happy todaybbecause winker boy the has been Ronaldo is out of the euros. Me me me me me is his mantra and his image. I also find him very strange sending his sperm off to some woman in USA to hatch for him. So good riddance from me winker and how many goals did he score against top nations?.
Good Morning to Matt Doc and co from a dull Bardsey Happy birthday Ristac and lets hope we sign someone today I only listen to Matt column when discussing transfers
When Buendia went to Villa it was clear that Grealish would probably move on. It would be difficult to play both and Buendia hasn't come to play in the reserves. If City get Kane I reckon Spurs might go for Grealish. If City can't get Kane then City will get Grealish. Players like Grealish are worth more in the market than players like Phillips. If Grealish gets 80 million then Phillips will be around 50 million.
£100m? £80m? These players like Grealish, 'statue' Kane, and £85m Maquire are so overpriced it's unreal. So glad we got better players like Llorente and Raphinha both for relatively bargain prices. And btw, what's happened to the so called financial fair play rules? These were supposed to level up the playing field. £100m to Man City is like a tenner to them - they won't miss it, but Villa, who financially cheated their way to the PL, will be the beneficiaries.
I feel your pain mate, but the FA, EFL, Premier League, UEFA and FIFA have relaxed fair play rules due to covid over last 2 seasons. Relax means not any rules for a while. For a while means until the top clubs agree. Its a lot of crap and a cheats charter
I'm a bit disappointed that McCallmont is to be sent out again. I think he has jumped ahead of Shackleton with last seasons performances. I'd have liked that situation the other way around. Shackleton to go out and McCallmont involved in the first team squad. We need another CM option as Klich had a really rough spell last season. If we don't buy one in we could have the same issue again. Bielsa obviously doesn't turn to Shackleton so why not give McCallmont a shot to prove himself?
You're forgetting that we still have Forshaw for CM, & unless injured again, I think he'll perform well for us. Knowing Bielsaball, he'll be 3 months ahead of any signings (if fit, of course).
