I presume it’s this “PHE guidance states someone could be considered a close contact and might have to self-isolate if they had a face-to-face conversation within one metre, or had been within two metres of someone for more than 15 minutes who tested positive for Covid-19. "We will continue to follow all Covid-19 protocols and the Uefa testing regime, while remaining in close contact with PHE," the FA said in a statement.”
Glad England got away with a 1-0 win. Pretty good first 25 minutes. Well done to Saka, he did well - so he'll probably be dropped now. Now looks like we'll have to play a real quality side in the Round of 16 super-spreader event. Then we'll see what Gareth's men are made of.
At least when you are playing one of the top sides you'll get good crowd support. You've got as good a chance as anyone of winning it, winning teams don't usually have spectacular starts, but improve as it progresses.
I got a buzz out of beating Croatia - a hangover of 2018 I guess. Scotland was a typical Charlton evening - how to turn a good start to sludge in 5 minutes. Last night we looked great to begin with and it was only as the second half dragged on and I found myself drifting away did it strike me that we weren't actually doing anything much. There was a penalty appeal and a disallowed goal, both correctly called, and that was it. As we were winning, I get that we were more likely to play a bit conservatively, but of the three group games, the zero goals conceded makes the defence look a lot better than they actually appeared. On to the next round where we'll be meeting someone from the group of death. We have players enough to win, but the euphoria all looks a bit misplaced just now. Still, maybe we'll 'do an Italy' and turn on the football when it becomes imperative.
England v Germany in the round of 16 then, at Wembley. The press are going to totally melt down over this one. But if the Scotland game had "too much baggage" for England to win it, how much more baggage does this match have? This will be a true test for Gareth Southgate and his team. Win this one, and anything is possible. England will be potentially writing history again, like they did in Italia '90 and Euro '96. Lose this one, and we'll all know that there has been no progress or improvement.
IF England can beat Germany, they'll have a 'winnable' Quarter-Final against Sweden or Ukraine. No pressure then!
Ronaldo may be Portugal's talisman, but Sanchez is their main man now. I never knew much about him before, but I love his attitude, and the fact that he stays on his feet when he's fouled, although that may not apply when he gets into the box.
