Early Skepta stuff was lit. But as soon as grime goes mainstream, it loses the very essence of what it's about.
Only problem with Joy Crookes is that the album has been coming for 18 months and still no sign of it.
Yeh not into it. Was born out of the garage scene cos after so solid the raves rurned from nice to aggy. And thats cos of the tunes, tunes like are u really from the ends, too many man, eskimo beats, skepta was part of that aggro scene too.
Just seen the advert for a Noel Gallagher interview and gig on Sky Arts. Is this High Flying Birds Dad rock really that popular? "I don't believe in God and all that, music is my religion" The cheese! Utter bellend.
@I take big hot cock for cash Joy Crookes new single is bunk. So many labels not investing in the artist now and they just fizzle out. Nothing but singles for at least 18 months and then she releases that crap. Just checked, first EP was 2018.
@Tel said similar when the joyner lucas album dropped after Eminems kamikaze put him on the pedestal. Same as Anderson paak & dr dre. As me and @PINKIE was on about other night. Ibagrre vut im frunk init
Joyner released his best tracks and hyped the rest of the album like something huge was coming, kept everyone waiting and then it dropped like a stinking jonny full of spunk. Name the last album released by any hip hop artist that you could listen to front to back without a skip... Pre-2005 I reckon I could name about 10-15 easy. After then I’d struggle to name 1. The genre has changed and it’s on its arse.
Probs Kendrick Lamar. Good Kid BAAD city. Think that was 2015. But even that was a rare gem in a sea of banal ****. A proper hip hop album with sick flows and a strong message just seems confined to the past now. Next big thing to blow up will probs come from the streets of Aleppo or Mogadishu.
