No Reebs, I take the actual result. Just pointing out that ATR published the wrong result without any qualification

Balding again, what a meeting. I must admit I had doubts about Alcohol Free lasting today but fair play to her. AP McCoy was not long after saying that nothing from Newmarket would turn the form around with Mother Earth before being proved wrong. Good effort from Snow Lantern as well but I am not sure how big a factor the ground was in this result.

Pretty Gorgeous looked to be coming with a promising run at one stage but just as she had done last time her run petered out. Much was made of her needing soft last season but I wonder if she might just be better suited by a sound surface? I saw no evidence today that the ground was suiting her and might be on her again on better going if the price is right.

    A slightly muddled looking race.

Very straightforward win for Alcohol Free. I thought she'd win the Guineas but she seemed to have the choke out as well as being on the wrong side that day. No problems today.
    Where will she go next?

It wouldn't surprise me if he retired this year. Enable was the love of his life, with Straddy a close second. Is there anything else to keep him going? He'll be 51 before the year ends

Small stakes bet with earlier winnings in the suicidal 5.00 race.

This looks really tricky to solve but I felt Glesga Girl had a squeak. She has improved for blinkers and was a good winner from my pick when landing a race at Wolverhampton in taking style last time out. That race has not worked out well and she is higher in the weights now but that seemed to represent a new level for tha Palmer filly. Ability to go on the ground has to be taken on trust but at 16/1 and 7 places each-way I thought she had chance.

5.00 Ascot Glesga Girl 16/1 EW (7 places)

He is a young whipper snapper at 51.

The Long Fellow went on until he was nearly 60. Admittedly, he did take a break in the middle to do a spot of training and a spot of porridge.

Nice to see Johnny get a winner. Garish colours mind you.

For all that it was a suicide cavalry charge on heavy, the first two in the betting filled the first two places. Glesga Girl was awful and ran miles below her form when beating today's 4th She Do last time. The turn around between the two was massive but that happens with heavy ground on occasion.

Or, as Spitting Image put it at the time:-

"And it's Lester Piggott on the inside, Lester Piggott on the inside, Lester Piggott on the inside, Lester Piggott still on the inside"

Last bet of the day is on old pal Warrior Brave. I did him against Fav Atalis Bay last week and he ran really well despite being slightly wayward. I suggested then that he would go up to 100 in Handicaps but he gets in here off 93. The ground has to be a concern but hopefully he can come late and land this in first time blinkers. De Sousa is on board.

6.10 Ascot Warrior Brave 7/1 for a decent bet.

Who gets to rider a Derby winner every night?

Well done Oisin again - 2 winners, but could easily have had 3 today
