Bristol Rovers F.C are delighted to announce the loan signing of defender Connor Taylor from Stoke City.

The 19-year-old arrives at the Mem on a season-long loan from the Championship outfit.

A towering defender, who stands tall at over 6ft, is highly rated at the bet365 Stadium and joins the Gas for the entirety of the 2021/22 campaign.

Taylor began his youth career at Port Vale, before a stint with Stafford Rangers. It was during his spell with Stafford that the defender represented England Schoolboys.

The defender progressed to join Stoke City in September 2019, penning a one-year scholarship and linking up with the Potters' U23 setup.

Taylor's time with Stoke's U23s side was a successful one, as the young Potters side achieved their highest ever finish in Premier League 2, with the defender featuring 16 times.

Recent loan spells at Ashton and Chester City have aided the defender's pursuit of first-team experience, with his stay in the National League North with Chester City extended until the end of January 2021.

Taylor's progression was rewarded with an 18-month deal with Stoke in February and the defender made his EFL debut for the Potters in April, featuring against Coventry City

Speaking about the signing, Manager Joey Barton said, "We are really pleased to get Connor in with us this forthcoming season at Rovers. He's a very good young player, one we have tracked for a while now, and I know that he is excited to make the natural next step into senior football. It's our aim to create an environment where Connor can join the rest of the lads in getting better every day so that together we can achieve our objective of winning promotion for this season."

Tutonda has a new club already! He has joined Ehmer at Gillingham.

Apparently we’re linked with Harvey Saunders and Aaron Collins - two 4th tier strikers who very rarely actually score goals!

    You couldn’t make it up.

One is from FGR and the other is from Fleetwood. Cannot remember which one but one is more out wide or just behind the striker. Also, according to Sam Frost from the Bristol Post, Barton is still looking for experience up front too. Apparently Barton wants many options. No harm in having more options but if we end up with just Hanlan, Ayunga and tbese 2 potentially coming in, it will be a very difficult season. More difficult than I already expect.

I think Ayunga could be great in League 2 - 20+ with the right support. Not so sure about Hanlan as a striker, he's probably more of a winger anyway.

Hanlan reminds me of Tom Nichols he would have been better off playing as a left sided attacking MF where he was playing when he signed for Peterborough when he left Exeter

If they can't hit a barn door, they'll be about right for League 2.

    George Williams has joined Cambridge.

Striker Harvey Saunders has signed for the Gas on a 2 year contract. He was previously with Barton at Fleetwood

I think Luca Hoole is now the most senior RB on the Rovers books now that Williams has departed

James Clarke has joined Newport and links up with Ed Upson

I think we've only got two - Jaakola who's a bit prone to injury and Jedward who's only 18! Probably best to have another in the building, even if he's just on loan.
