The names we’re linked to make a complete mockery of the DNA rhetoric that Levy himself has come out with.
There’s nothing in common between any of them. We just jump from random name to another random name.
Our DNA is well and truly reflected in our search for a manager. A total ****ing mess.

Ali Gold’s tweets are quite startling. Seems like all was sorted with Fonseca, and we’ve pulled out at the 11th hour because once again, the carrot has been dangled and heads have been turned.
Would suggest to me that that sort of behaviour is irreparable. Surely Fonseca is now a write off? Disgusting behaviour if true.

We aren’t in a position to be ****ing around like this. Our options haven’t exactly been inspiring from the outset, and we appear to be burning bridges at every opportunity.

Is this how the club behaves with transfers? Makes you wonder.

In the cold light of day, the record will show that in truth our search for a manager went wrong the moment Bayern showed interest in Nagelsmann.

Poch, Rodgers and Conte were always going to be hugely difficult deals for different reasons. And once you get to Plan E of the list, it becomes much of a muchness in terms of CV/quality/risk.

At the root of all this is Daniel Levy's pathological inability to make a sensible decision in a timely way. Sacking Maureen 2 months late and just before the one match he might actually have been useful to have was neither timely nor sensible. It cost us Nagelsmann, which in turn cost us 2 months without a manager, which in turn cost us whatever shred of dignity we had left.

Sack Maureen when 99% of the fanbase and players wanted him sacked, and none of this happens.

It doesn't really make sense that he was someone that we were ever after.
If Paratici is the one picking the manager and he's almost exclusively gone after Italy-based coaches, then how does that fit?
Like Flick, everyone knew where he was going.

We have previous. This is exactly how Levy behaved with the whole Santini/BMJ, BMJ/Ramos transition.

He hasn't changed in 17 years and as @"Thanks for that Brian" has said, what makes us think he's had some major epiphany to change in the future? Because he wrote a letter in a programme?

Nothing makes any sense, which makes me wonder whether another approach for Conte or Poch is the only thing that makes sense! Is this all a smokescreen?

    My brain is fried.

I think Fonseca met the ‘DNA requirement’. I don’t see how Gattuso does.

Flick was fine at Bayern until the sudden falling out over finances. No question Nagelsmanm harboured ambitions to take over in Munich one day but reports suggest we seriously sounded him out when we sacked Poch and he was very interested but reluctant to leave RB mid season.

If we'd moved well before Bayern imploded, I think we would have reached an agreement to bring Nagelsmann in at the end of the season.

This could all be as simple as not having a plan whatsoever. Just sack Mourinho, and go from there.

But you have to wonder if levy’s behaviour has come home to roost. Perhaps there was a plan, but his previous behaviour and reputation within football is biting him in the arse. Even he himself didn’t see us being in this position after parting ways with Jose.

Bet he didn’t see Ten Hag signing a new deal, Poch’s contract being extended, or Conte telling him what he didn’t wanna hear!

The reason people have contracts is to record their agreement. Until the contract is signed there is no agreement. The reason contracts fall through at the last minute is because one party didn't know about an issue until the other wrote it down. If Spurs are not allowed to refuse to deal under that circumstance then we will be held to ransom by everyone.
Sounds to me like Fonseca discovered something like he would be taxed twice because his days in Italy and in UK would both be above a threshold this year and wanted to delay or ask Spurs to cover the cost. That's his fault not ours.

Fonseca has been on the cards for the best part of 2 weeks. How has this only come to fruition now?

The tax thing is disagreed on by the journalists as a reason.
A couple have said that's why, but the majority are claiming that Paratici just prefers Gattuso.

It might be that he was causing the delay and now we have someone else to use as leverage. Contract negotiations often work like that. There is a gap and someone has to move. Think about selling a house. If the buyer meets your asking price but then doesn't want to move for six months and you then get a matching offer from someone who can complete tomorrow, would you call it a shambles if you accepted the new offer?

It doesn't matter why. If the contract hasn't been signed there must have been issues.

It's more like buying a house and the person selling it being slightly off on the price, so you buy somewhere that's a complete wreck, instead.

That’s more like it. Simply a preferred option has come up. Similar to Conte. Who next?
Not buying the tax issues after 2 weeks of talks.

It’s almost like we want Mourinho MkII because…publicity.
Nevermind the fact we’re a football club.

This is an honestly an appointment I just can’t understand. Doing research on Fonseca got me on board with the appointment, there’s literally nothing that’ll make me think “Yeah, Gattuso can actually be alright”.

I’m actually hoping this one follows in the Conte and Fonseca footsteps.

Me neither mate, which is why I mentioned publicity.
It’s the only thing I can think of.
