Another player that Newcastle let slip through their fingers, to go along with Ivan Toney and Adam Armstrong. And to think I get upset about Harrison Reed.
Add Florian Thauvin to the list. Looked totally out of his depth with Newcastle, has had a very productive several years for Marseille.
I have no idea about him and would certainly concur on your point regarding having had a fair share of average scorers on our books, but l think you are being a little kind using the term 'average'.
Yes he has but Liverpool have world class wide players, we certainly haven’t got any to put it politely
Surely that makes his figures seem even worse. Should be getting 20+ a season playing up front for Liverpool.
Not sure what your point is, Liverpool can afford to have a low scoring but creative striker in their front line as his oppo’s do the scoring, Saints have relied on Ings scoring as our wide attackers are pretty useless at actually putting the ball in the net
I guess his point is that having better players around him should lead to better chances, and a higher frequency of chances, coming Firmino's way. Rather than feeding off scraps. Not to mention keeping the opposition defenders distracted by those other quality attackers. But the counter argument is that Liverpool are not Man City. Playing alongside De Bruyne and co, even Shane Long would rack up the goals (but he'd still miss more!). They put chances on a plate. But at Liverpool, Salah passes to no-one. And as a consequence, Mane has started doing likewise. It's pretty clear that neither is on the other's Xmas card list.
My point is that - despite Firmino’s low number of goals - he is still an excellent player, and does a lot to improve the effect of the attacking players around him. Basically, don’t just judge a striker on his ‘goals scored’ stat.
average of 7+ which for a striker would normally mean fairly consistent at scoring. I would give 9/10 for effort 5/10 for running into blind alleys as defenders are not as worried by him now as previously 1/20 for scoring so basically 14.5 from 30. and even that seems a lot.
