Stevenage were dirty and timewasted, but when they played it was decent. I won't begrudge them, survive by any means necessary, and playing top of the league it worked. Rather tha focus on them, we look at ourselves. It took another half time hairdryer before the players showed what they can do. An example that it's the players on the field who messed up, not the manager. Time for a paragraph? CP was screaming for them to stop the long kicks to kermo, but they persisted. Time to go back to Hayes, not because kermo was bad, but we miss his link from mid to attack. He and BWP also seem to have a great understanding. It's disappointing, but we all know we can do so much better than this- unlike last season.
Ponders - spot on. Not one of Powells better games. In fact rather exposed him. He also sounds too much like Parky in his after match comments - all hot air and no substance. Talks for ages and says nowt. Worrying. I really hope we dont "do a Parky" and start to slide to mid table mediocrity, but the signs are there.
Yes, but at least he is learning from experienced managers. He has seen Ferguson, Wenger and Mourinho make a change with just two minutes to go, so he brought on Hayes. Next thing he has to learn is that you do this when you are defending a point or points gained, to break up play and waste time. You don't do it when you are desperate to score a late equaliser. How much more time does Hayes need to show what he can do. He had a whole two minutes (plus added time)! Unless my memory is much at fault, last season we "did a Powell" and slid to mid-table mediocrity. We were in the play-off places when he took over.
3-0 loss to brentford 1-1 with tranmere 1-0 loss to stevenaage Stop making excuses, these results aren't table topping form. Why can't we maintain the rage and stay dominant.. so gutted today.
The only disappointing result there is yesterday's, cup game who cares, tranmere isn't great but not a disaster. We can't win them all, Preston are struggling at the moment mk dons (should be top) seem to have fallen away and Sheffield united are dropping points too! Top of the league, keep the faith
Glad to see Im not the only one who notices that the bad form coincides with the Squad rotation. I know Squad Rotation CAN be a good thing but ask yourself this - How many top honours has Claudio Ranieri won (who is the greatest tinkerman of them all). If you go on to Wikipedia you'll find the answer = NONE
Their are a bunch of teams right behind us, unless we play solid all year we will be just in that bunch of 6-8 teams who are good enough for a playoff spot. Stop the rot, maintain the rage, show some anger/grit - we need to beat oldham well. Squad rotation is fine, we need to incoprorate it now rather than when it is last minute and gap filling.
I'm not against a bit of selective tinkering but not the back 4. I'm not just being wise after the event, as soon as I saw the team FHB jnr. and myself agreed we would lose. Morrison has been outstanding in the middle and Solly is having a great season, in defence and attack. Cort has to wait for his chance.
