I'd pay 4 times the asking price for him. I haven't seen him lose his cool this season and he is bringing Chester along very nicely. If those 2 stay fit for the remainder of the season, I can't see us conceding many.
No one can come to a conclusion yet. Gerrard has to be very careful what he says HE IS STILL A CARDIFF PLAYER, he can hardly go off spouting that he wants to come to us and what not, the bluebird fans also love him and want him back. He might not seem the brightest spark out the bunch but he clearly has his head glued on knowing what he should and shouldn't say. As for the deal, theres too much in it with them having Oli, Cardiff are also going to want to see what league they're in next year before they commit to any deals, and why would we make an offer now if theres a chance we can make a straight swap? Waiting til the end of the season is best for both parties concerned. Assuming that we won't get him already because of twitter comments is ridiculous and you really should think more into it. For what it's worth it seems to me like he's really enjoying his time here and would sign for us at the end of the season if the chance arrives. And to be honest I reckon it will...
Yeah, I heard someone suggest this on the radio yesterday. Can't remember if it was Blunderside or KCFM. Apparently, he's due a fairly substantial wage increase should Cardiff get promotion, and with two years left on his deal, he'd be perfectly entitled to sit on that wage and refuse to budge, whether they want to play him or not. It would also put him way beyond the wage structure we have in place now. So if we want Gerrard, we have to hope Cardiff screw up promotion.
But then if Cardiff do screw up promotion maybe they'll want Gerrard back, which would also bugger our chances of getting him. I guess it depends on whether he values a hefty wage packet over playing regular football, I hope it's the latter!
Don't think this is a Jimmy Bullard case hare. Championship players are on approx6/7K a week( source AP) so if Gerrard got 2 x that it would make him financially sound without becoming overly flash. Still a young bloke with a child it makes sense. He still has years to play as well. Think he is playing it very well. After all when you are giving everything for your loan club you are playing your part in the deal.
Well when he came to us he was saying Im just glad im getting the oppurtunity to play first team football, as he was told he wasnt gonna get many chances with Cardiff, whether Dave Jones has reassesed after seeing how well hes done with us is another matter entirely.
if cardiff do screw up promotion they will think they have a bloody good chance next season and will try to strengthen rather than going back to players they already thought weren't good enough.
Think we may be missing something. What if it looks like us v Cardiff for 6th place. can they do a WBA (Neil clement) and call him back. Like who would we need more Gerrard or Olifanjani.
I'd think you'll find Hobbs from Leicester is a different class to Gerrard, having said that he's been excellent, but 1.5 mill is a lot for a player who is one footed, and his distribution is not the best!! Don't get me wrong i"d rather have him than not!!!
That's true probably. However cardiff are sure to have been impressed with his performances with us and have noticed he starts every game. It's always an advantage to the lending club if the player performs well, he gains confidence and his price tag rises. Gerrard is good enough for the PL in my book, I'm sure he'd love to play aginst his cuz! With Cardiff or Hull though?
My thoughts are that Jack Hobbs will join at the end of the month and Gerrard may or may not sign in the summer. "KEEP THE FAITH"
I know we have only an outside chance, but the Interesting point to this debate is..... what if we get the 3rd promotion spot.... will we want him & will his value rise above ã1.5m? I think we would & the price would be >ã2.5m!
Incredibly, Oli is on ã28k(allegedly), of which Cardiff are currently paying ã16k(allegedly). I think Gerrard's doing a very good job for us at the moment, but I don't really think he's worth ã1.5m, if Cardiff don't go up, I suspect we'd get him for six figures, rather than seven.
