Yep and to follow your previous post, I’m not sure I remember being too excited when we signed Skipp. Or Pukki, for that matter. The most memorable excitement at signing players I have, though perhaps because they sticks in the throat, were Van Wolfswinkel and Naismith. I remember thinking those were bargains.
Still remember thinking how have we managed to sign Huckerby on loan. Then a few months later, he's told his agent to get stuffed he's staying at Norwich, whoohoo! But yes like I said earlier I usually haven't heard of anyone we sign haha
Rumours are that Billings (Bournemouth) and Armstrong (Blackburn) are on our radar but at £15m+ I can’t see Farke/Webber paying that sort of money.
I’m sure whenever I’ve seen Brandon Williams play it’s been a LB? Could be a decent signing if Aarons were to leave. Adam Armstrong would be a great signing and the perfect player to release some pressure from Pukki without us having to change style. At 24 and home grown he could learn a lot from Pukki but may cost a premium I’m afraid.
Good grief I hope not https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-leeds-hijack-norwich-deal-for-gunn-after-fee-agreed/
I can't see him as a replacement for Max if Max leaves, and I can't see him coming to sit on the bench. I Have to admit I didn't realize Williams had that much game time with ManU two seasons ago. We'll see what happens.
I think Max will leave and Williams is a reasonable low cost loan replacement given that we've also got Byram and Mumba and, if necessary, Sørensen to cover. It's a bit of a compromise as Williams is at least a year behind Max in his development, but SW has to make some compromises given the number of players we need and our limited budget.
On paper, yes, but when was the last time he pulled on a boot in anger? I'm inclined to discount him, as we did Matt Jarvis. So we'd need cover if Aarons left.
The Pinkun has reported that Byram should be fit for pre-season training. If there was any problem then Sørensen could offer an alternative option. Our new player needs are greater at CB, CM, DM and striker/AM on a limited budget as we make up the losses from Covid.
Would love to have either one in the team. Billings has had a couple of good seasons in the PL. As you say, though, that's a lot of money for us and I expect both to go for closer to £20m.
Danny Mills thinks that Gunn will choose us: https://readsouthampton.com/2021/06/15/danny-mills-claims-leeds-will-not-hijack-gunn-deal/ ...so he probably won't.
Adam Armstrong rumours still floating about 28 goals 5 assists 30 goals in all competitions 24 years old represented England all the way up from Under 16 to Under 21 level. PFA player of the year, scores for fun in a struggling team . He ticks all the boxes but will probably be quite expensive and not sure we can compete on wage demands .
Sorry but I have been away for a while and only just read your post. This is a normal business tax dodge as Business Taxes are based on transactions rather than when the money is received - the only exception to this deal are the add-ons and selling on clause as they are only capable of calculation at a later date. If we are going to get a basic fee of £33m then that will appear in the tax year the contract was signed which means it will reduce last years loss and not increase the profit of this year. This represents legitimate tax avoidance - tax evasion will only take place if we ' accidentally ' forget money received at a later date for the add-ons or sell on clause and do not disclose them in that future tax year.
I think this could be a very good signing if we can manage it given that he can play as a striker or wide AM. The fee mentioned is £15m which we could manage if paid in installments and I can't think his wages at Blackburn would be out of our reach. I'd love to see it happen.
