And that's where it comes to an end mate. You had a guy that took you within arms reach of the summit and when he said to Levy "lend me an ice axe so i can reach the summit" Levy cut the rope.
It was with a heavy heart that I gave up my membership...but I've no confidence in anything that Levy has to offer. We need change more than I can put into words. The management of the football club isn't fit for purpose and until there are root and branch changes, I'm watching from the side lines after 52 years of going to matches. Levy OUT!
This new Paratici and Fonseca team is a risk, a cheap risk, but a risk nonetheless, but it could be a major blessing should it fail to work out. Levy and ENIC will have sunk to even lower depths should this gamble fail, it could be another nail in ENIC`s coffin, as the fan base continues to turn even more toxic, so there could be positives in this, even in failure.
If the fans are slaughtering a DoF and manager without even giving them a chance then they’re part of the problem not the solution. I have my reservations about this guy (his time at Roma hasn’t been perfect though there may have been mitigating factors there beyond his control, and his short stint at Porto didn’t end too well, even though he won the Portuguese SuperCup there) but he’s win trophies with multiple clubs and did well in Portugal with unfancied, underdog teams. I’ve never watched his Roma (as I suspect few if any of us have) but by the accounts we have they played good football and he will promote young players. I honestly think the talk of Poch and Conte has blown any subsequent rumours and appointments way out of proportion. Before those reports started in earnest plenty of people were enthusiastic about someone like Potter, or Ten Hag, both of whom are not perfect candidates, though they tick a lot of boxes. Fonseca also ticks a lot of boxes. The new manager/DoF pair need to be given a chance regardless of what people think of Levy or it’s going to be a self fulfilling prophecy of failure.
It's a sport mate. There is no glory in winning by recycling the money of murdering gangsters. Anymore than winning by taking drugs or other cheating. I can cope with failure but not lack of ethics.
If you get a minute read the comments on the BBC story about it...they make this place look like a right bunch of happy clappy mo fos
Players with no PL experienc. Son Ericsen Vertongen Lloris Van der Vaart Sandro Ardilles Villa yes I wouldn’t mind some of that
The lack of any English football experience in the manager and DoF (has he even been announced yet?) is very worrying. Does anyone believe that Levy's going to cede control to them to get on with it? Are they ready and able to see what's needed for us to improve in a league that they've no direct knowledge of, with Daniel helping them out by bringing in players that they don't want? These are the next chumps in the line and we'll be looking for their replacements all too soon.
If Fonseca does get the job, then we need to replicate how he did things at Shakhtar, where he got his best results. A whole squad of Brazilians should do the trick. Alex Texeira and Diego Costa are out of contract....
Yet you are happy to win under Joe Lewis, because he is saint right, where are your ethics with this parasite? There is no glory in being used as a business venture to line the pockets of the owners either, there are plenty of people out there with plenty of money who are not `murdering gangsters`, who may well show the same level of ambition as those in charge of the clubs that win most of the trophies. I can cope with failure also, but not lack of clear ambition.
I agree with you that Levy is the hinge upon which this will turn to success or failure. Regardless of whether you think he has or hasn’t in the past, he has to back this combination of people in the transfer market, and has to back them in selling members of the squad they don’t want, even if it means taking a bit more of a loss than he wants. If he doesn’t do that then it doesn’t matter who the manager is, tbh. I agree too that the lack of PL experience goes against Fonseca but the same is true with Ten Hag and I get the sense that we wouldn’t be seeing such outcry if it was the Dutchman being linked so close to the job right now. Fonseca has arguably a better CV (lack of PL aside, but he’s won more and been around longer) than Poch did when he walked in the doors at Spurs. Don’t get me wrong Foncesa ain’t my first choice either but if he’s who the DoF wants to work with then at least Levy is backing his new man early on.
I don't require saints but I draw the line at criminals. If the people you suggest actually exist and make a bid to buy the club then I will consider them on their merits. While they remain a figment of your imagination it doesn't matter what anyone thinks. And how does investing in the world's best training facility 'line the pockets of the owners' or show lack of ambition?
Fonseca is a sign that Levy is letting Paratici have a big say in big decisions. If you want Levy to stand back then don’t moan at the first sign of him doing it I’ve been very critical of Spurs and how they operate but to me this is them backing the new DoF so I’m all for it. Time will tell if it’s a good thing or not but at least it’s a step in the right direction.
This is precisely what I think. Levy didn't listen to Poch or Mourinho...why should this chump fare any better?
I don't want to jinx it - however the general consensus appears to be that Levy has found his new 'Dream Team' of Paratici and Fonseca and like a lot of people, to me it initially seems a bit of a anti-climax. But looking at the posters here as a cross section of our fan base we couldn't find a candidate that everyone was comfortable with so why are we feeling disappointed? . I nailed my colours to the group supporting Graham Potter, but more in the best of an average bunch sort of way than a real desire for him to be appointed. Conte being courted raised expectations, but to me that was always unlikely, and Poch was a romantic notion that most of us weren't buying into at this stage. Fonseca has won things all be it in smaller less competitive leagues, and some are worried that he has no premier league experience, but historically that is not a massive issue, as since its inception the premier league has only been won by 2 managers (Dalglish and Ranieri) who were not managing the club that gave them their first opportunity to manage in this country. I am a little worried that there are reports that he has been chosen because there is a belief that we can the best out of the current squad , because we all know that the playing staff needs overhauling, but equally we all know that rebuilding takes time so as long as the right players are moved out and improved upon (we all know who), then he will need to get the best out of lets say10/12 of last seasons match day squad with hopefully better players making up the squad. Lets get behind the new manager and at least give him a chance.
This has all the hallmarks of another Levy cheapo signing, another yes man and a make do appointment. You never know though, we may get lucky like we did with Poch, I won`t be putting any money on it though. I will get behind and give it a chance, and hope this proves to be a Levy masterstroke. When the Conte deal fell apart it was clear Levy has no ambition to compete at the top. There is nothing to suggest this will end in anything other than failure, especially when we lose Harry Kane through perennial lack of ambition. Fonseca has an underwhelming CV and will be working for a chairman who will have unrealistic demands given the modest resources he will be given.
I can’t believe this clown has outlasted 2 marriages and overseen my first born become a man…he’s had more than long enough to achieve the aim of the game at our club…he’s lingered longer than most bad things in my life. Those fans backing him blindly seem to pipe up at the thought of some dictator/murderer taking over but I feel oppressed watching this twat lead my club for what is almost half of my life…he’s had his time. I mean no one cares about that…half my life, this twat has been steering the ship of one of my biggest passions in life. Those fans ready to turn their backs at a new owner don’t care about that…they want more of the same so I can’t really take their considerations on board since they struggle to take mine. Let’s carry on backing the tax exile instead…which kinda shows he’s a money grabber, loves it and has no intention of parting with it but we have the moral high ground because at least he’s not a ‘murderer’ Might have to pack it in as things stand until we become a Football club again…so either way it seems as though we may lose fans but do those who would leave if a Roman took over give a **** about that? Doubt it…likewise…would and should I give a ****? We would have bagged so many glorious trophies with Roman in charge…shame that.
