    Science mate.

    Let's start at the beginning.

Reports that india variant is now dominant.
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-57287112

The r rate 1.3 in north west. It is shown to be rising.
    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-r-value-and-growth-rate

    Now az effectiveness.
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-57214596

Was reported at 60% as early testing. Compared to 80% for pfizer. At one cost is is only 33%

Pfizer has now been shown to be even lower

That's down to regular old flu vaccine levels.

Worse than useless = people are going about like theres no covid now they have a jab and that's just not the case.

People dont want to hear about new reality. They liked the old reality but wishing it to be so cos you've a jab is no good if the virus is not suppressed.

The only places on the global whove done it are aussie and nz. Why? They closed the borders effectively. Simple as that.

you said AZ is now worse than useless then quote reports saying its efficacy is 60% against the Indian variant after 2nd jab which is fine . The vaccine is to stop serious illness and death and hopefully reduce transmission a bit but you seem to want a silver bullet which aint going to happen .
Moaning about the idiocy of the UK population really has the square root of **** all to do with the vaccine efficacy .

Said from day one it should never have reached the UK. We're an island, closer the borders!

You would think that our commonwealth vassal states would serve as an example.

    But no.

It seems more important to keep holidays and inbound flights than reopen.

Europe is 4? Waves in and hasn't learned yet.

Holiday season 2 now. Going to be rife in September but watch those who had a good time blame kids in schools again.

Had a tyre blow out last night; something on the road, avoided it with the front wheels but caught the rear offside and deflated in seconds, fortunately I'd stop before it was completely flat so didn't ruin my alloy. Happened in a dangerous position and I had to wait 1hr 45mins for AA to turn up! (I'd have changed it myself but for the shoulder)

Glad you're okay, sounds hairy. That's why it's good to always have a working spare. Can you get a repair on the puncture?

Been back on the road this morning and saw something in the road. Stuck the hazards on and caused a traffic queue whilst I removed it from said road. Wasn't particularly sharp but....

...I had an advisory on my last MOT about changing that tyre. I'd checked the tread and felt it was good to go for a few months; they have to issue an advisory when it's unlikely to last to thre next MOT but it's still okay to use at the time.

Having looked at the tyre this morning, I think it was an advisory because of cracks on the side wall rather than the tread. Guessing it just split when I hit the blunt metal object in the road.

All good cheers, I was just a bit cold; had been to footy and since it was so warm earlier in the evening, I was only wearing shorts and a vest so it was a bit nippy after 10pm <laugh>

Fortunately for neighbour was driving passed not long after ot happened so he took Mrs Zanjinho (nm) and the youngest home for me. (He couldn't change it either, he doesn't work due to a back and leg injury)

    Glad you're ok mate :emoticon-0148-yes:

Had something similar about two or three years ago when a tyre blew out on a motorway interchange. Luckily I was able to get across to the hard shoulder and stop there. Tried to change it myself but couldn't get the wheel off; even the AA guy had to whack it from behind a few times with a Hammer.

I have had that a few times with alloys. My old VW golf had something with the alloy and the hub with dissimilar metals that caused it to really bind on.

I had one guy stop in a garage, you know these young lads and their ****e cars, of course i go down (was sent down by the missus) and look at it and and i brought a mallet (rubber) and no ****ing way was it coming off. You'd wonder if the type was ever taken off. I had to get a fire log and a proper hammer and beat the thing off.

He wasn't hitting it gently. I was cringing for my alloy <laugh>

You really have to batter them. The good thing is at least you had called the guy at the outset. as you could have spend a half hour doing it and then had to call.

I've kicked the hell out for alloys as long as the jack is ok. Some are so ****ty you can see it wobble so have to leave the nuts on just real loose.
