Im trying my best to not believe any suggestions of us signing players who are already a big deal this time round. Too often we have been used as a free billboard to get some exposure for players looking to go further up the table so to speak. And I remember all the talk of quaggers coming to us too!
I am thoroughly fed up with the name Jon Newsome. Whatever site and article I click onto he is giving it large about us and our players. Is he still living in the area? He finished playing for us a quarter of a century ago.
I believe he lives in the Sheffield area. Now a football agent, so generating his own publicity, is good for his own business
Yeah there are some excellent football pundits with interesting insights and opinions, including for individual clubs, but there’s something about the transfer window click bait which brings out the worst in a certain type of football “journalist”. It ought to be a regulated profession...
Apparently we were close to signing King from Everton but talks broke down after he demanded £60 week and a long term contract. https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-norwich-city-pull-the-plug-on-king-pursuit-after-talks/
https://norwichcity.myfootballwrite...ef-up-that-midfield-is-3-4-2-1-the-way-ahead/ Not sure whether this belongs on this thread, or elsewhere. It's an argument that we can't afford the signings required to play 4-2-3-1 in the Premier League, so should switch to 3-4-2-1. The article seems to hinge on a slightly odd assessment of the squad. Gibson, Giannoulis and Dowell are described as limited, good value players , whilst both Omobamidele and Zimmerman are deemed good enough CB options to allow us to play 3 at the back with our current CB options.
Funny, I just posted that on the 2021-22 thread as an interesting read, but with the same doubts about player assessments. I would, however, like to see us use a 3-4-2-1 formation at least some of the time.
Well, we can stop talking about them then! I never much thought we could afford Pereira, even at £15m.
While we're waiting for any new signings now the window has opened, here's the latest list of possibilities published this morning: https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwich-city/who-have-norwich-been-linked-with-this-summer-8037030 Note that Pereira isn't on it.
Unlike last time City could be going to war in the Premier league with at least 1 Gunn this time round https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/angus-gunn-norwich-city-return-8037914 Would be great if we could get a few decent outfield players in now, especially with Emi now gone, hope the club spends the money wisely and strengthens the team
Ooooooh another Argentina International https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwic...rumours-potential-buendia-replacement-8041086
Gunn is being reported as an initial £2.5m signing, rising to £5m - some unlikely add-ons would take it to £10m (presumably him being England starting goalkeeper or something). Considering that initial fee is about what we paid to loan Fahrmann, that's reasonable business.
Beat me to it DD have just seen it on the Evening News website and had copied the link and was just about to post it on this thread. Scored some fantastic goals, would be great to see him scoring in Yellow & Green for City
