I understand why Ben White is going (though I don't understand why we're taking injured player #1, which necessitates White taking up an extra place in the squad). What I don't understand is why a patently unfit Henderson is. Loved Keane's comments after the game last night.
I think you can take one player who will take time to build up fitness who is also captain and influential like Henderson is, especially given the larger squad size. But we are carrying too many. We need actual options that can come on and impact the game. At least Henderson could play 45 minutes yesterday so is closer to a return and can play a part in the group stages as a sub. Maguire shouldn't be going. Leave Maguire at home and take White instead. Then replace TAA with JWP.
Sancho’s club stats look great but he just doesn’t do it for England from what I’ve seen. Bit of a Moussa. No way does he get in my 11
I know Sancho has been excellent in Germany but he hasn't shown this quality for England recently. I think it is likely the formation. I can't see him getting much game time either.
I pretty much agree but this time I think more risk of losing JWP because he didn’t get selected. Having said that I will be shocked if we allowed him to go considering he has sent me an email thanking me for buying a season ticket. That would be the ultimate kick in the nuts!
Hi all, week 1 of the new Euros Prediction Competition is now available here: https://www.not606.com/threads/euros-week-1.393539/ It's a familiar format to those that take part in the normal Prediction Competition that I run during the season but it would be great if we could have some new faces involved
I'm really glad there hasn't been a drinking game invented, where every time I say "it's a shame we don't have a dead ball specialist right now" during upcoming England games, you have to down the rest of your pint. Everyone would be hammered.
As someone else here said, it isn’t even as a Saints fan that I’m most annoyed. As an England fan I am irritated we have opted not to have those glorious set pieces. Especially when we have a side completely reliant on them.
There was another one that was even better. DCL got a foot on it but straight at the keeper. His deliveries were the main threat.
I'm now veering away from wanting England to do well, especially if they fail to create anything from set pieces, just so I can say "See? Told you so, you should have taken JWP". I'm an England fan, but I have Saints-coloured glasses on, so I'll watch every England game, and say 'Well, Prowsie would've done better, there'.
The one at 1:55 was just perfect. Really should have scored from that one. Had forgotten about the one at 1:28 too. Set pieces were massively important at the last world cup. No reason to suspect that will be any different at this euros. I'm going to stop moaning about it now though because no point in keeping on. Lets hope the England boys can pull off something special.
Ukraine's Euro 2020 football kit provokes outrage in Russia - BBC News Way to piss off the Russians Ukraine!
Southgate is picking a team for the quarter /semi finals..... but will he get there to reap the rewards of his risky selection.
A shame no JWP but reality is he’d most likely not have played at all anyway. Those saying about his set pieces forgetting he’d have to get on the pitch first!
Not much talk about Germany for this euros. I know they’re in the group of death but I don’t think you can ever right them off. See they beat Latvia 7-1 in their final friendly tonight. I know it’s only Latvia, but still they looked lethal.
