That's similar to the logic of Liverpool and Mane!

I was surprised that JWP has been linked with Villa. Granted they are a team on the up, but it seems a strange move especially as I cannot see them retaining Grealish this summer. What I think will happen is that it will provoke interested in other clubs for JWP and I believe he will end up pulling on a Liverpool shirt come the next season, especially with Wijnaldum now gone. According to Michael Calvin's book about football scouts, Liverpool have been monitoring him since he was about 17. I am probably biased when I say this, but I rate JWP far higher than Jordan Henderson - cannot see what either Klopp or Southgate see in him.

It's a 'no' from me regarding selling JWP. Even for 50m.

We need a big squad of average players with a sprinkling of matchwinners. At the moment we have two matchwinners, in Ings and JWP. What we don't want to do, is take a risk by selling them. Doesn't matter how much we recoup, because we simply can't guarantee how good the replacements will be. Our current squad, without the matchwinners, are getting relegated next season, make no mistake.

Also, JWP is the captain, he's English, and he's a local lad, been with the club his whole life. Compare that to say, Diallo, who is five years younger, new to the squad, French-speaking, and from another culture. Who is likely to be the more influential character in the dressing room? And we need BIG personalities in the dressing room, to keep this team motivated when the going gets rough. Because there are more rough times ahead.

We need to spend what little money we have, on a left-back and a centre-mid. I'd take Delaney and this Perraud chap, and then shut up shop. Ralph has to be braver with the youth players. Obafemi, Jankewitz, Tella, Smallbone, are all capable, and with a run of games they could all become valuable squad members. And the best thing is, they're free.

Armstrong is another we would struggle to replace, versatile and all round good player.
And FWIW I think JWP will stay even if Liverpool raised their ugly head.
Ings is the one who would go if he gets a decent opportunity.

I'm actually of the opinion that we have a decent enough squad already for a 10th-12th place finish. The likes of Armstrong, KWP, Romeu, Vestergaard are all very good players. Our downfall this season was Ralph's huge miscalculation regarding the strain of his high-press tactics on a small squad.

I would guess this is just media click bait bollocks, trying to drum up a story where there isn't one. Saints selling JWP is about as likely as us signing Lionel Messi with the fantasy cash we get. JWP is a one club player and will be staying here for the duration. It's his home and he loves it here. It's almost the start of the summer transfer window so we have 3 months of speculation. Great for those who love all that stuff but pretty tiresome for those looking for factual information on new players coming in.

Even if the rumours are true, would he want to go? He's got a young kid I think, so his family would need to be part of the decision too and his partner might not want to uproot to Birmingham/Liverpool.

By the sounds of it JWP won't be going to the Euros. I'm happy he'll get some rest, but it may also cool the rumours as he won't be putting in decent performances like he did yesterday.

Shame he won't be at the Euros. Thought Gareth would do the right thing and bring him in for TAA.
That seems to be the general feeling amongst all England fans too - what an utterly dull decision.

JWP is worth every penny of £50 mil to other teams. On the verge of an England call up. A lot of premier experience….he is certainly worth that to us. I also think there is better to come from him.

Think he’s worth more than £50 million …. I’d pretty well double it and say “if you want him, he’s going to cost a fortune” as I don’t think really he would want to go …. Especially to the midlands to a club who should, if goal line technology had been working, have been in the championship this season, which would have meant losing Grealish ….

Edouard looks like he's going to Leicester, so that's one dream crushed.

It's about time we signed someone so I can Wikipedia them and pretend to have known all about them for ages.

In terms of JWP, I wouldn't sell whatever the price. I'm not sure our board are of the same mind though.

Means they are less likely to want Ings perhaps, every cloud and that.

Didn't realise we were that close to signing Maddison.
