It's deffo called Manchester here in queensland. I looked up the reasoning years ago and it's something to do with the cotton for bed sheets etc coming from the cotton Mills in Manchester.
I spent some time in Perth, WA in the late 1990s. Definately Manchester in Perth. One store had a Manchester department.
I think I've seen it as a category at the shops but I more meant around the house referring to linen I wouldn't call it Manchester. I know the etymology of it but I think as I said it's of a certain generation and it's gradually being weaned out.
