Man city squad analysis 20 players >21 (foden, garcia are u21) Foreign players: 15 (max 17). 595.4mil Ederson 61.2m Steffen 7.0m Zinchenko 1.7m Laporte 57m Mendy 52m Cancelo 60m dias 31.5 Gundogan 20m rodri 68m KDB 55mil Silva 43m Fernandinho 12m Torres 40m Jesus 27m Mahrez 60m Aguero free to open spot Homegrown quota: 5 (Max 8) 166mil Carson 0 Ake 25 Walker 45m Stones 47m Sterling 49m total spend = 761.4 mil or average of 38mil per player. If they bought kane and grealish for 100mil each or whatever there would be no impact to their quotas. They have 2 more foreign player slots open in thier squad also. Theres room for haaland for example. I fully expect 3 or 4 players to be purchased and a net spend of around 300mil.
LFC squad analysis Foreign players: 15 (max 17). 465mil Alisson 57 Adrian 0 Van Dijk 75 Konate 36 Tsimikas 8 Matip 0 Fabinho 39m Thiago 25m Keita 57m Shaqiri 13m Firmino 29m Mane 34m Salah 36m Jota 45m Origi 10m Homegrown quota: 8 68.5 Gomez 3 robertson 8m Davies 1.5m Phillips 0 TAA 0 Milner 0 Henderson 16 Ox 40 Note that both williams, kelleher, jones and elliott are under 21 total spend = 533.5Mil or 23 mil per player We have lots of homegrown "players" we do have only 15 slots so before players go out there are 2 open slots left to bring in a couple more players to the foreign list, I would seriously doubt we will bring in a "homegrown" player at this point in time , even with a clear out and milner retiring we would have 5 right now. clearly open for mbappe and haaland to please some on here. the difference in the two squad in "reserves" is clear some of ours would struggle to get a game for the 17th placed prem team. All of city's players would play for a top 6 club most likely (marginal on mendy and jesus imo)
It's very simple - let's go out and buy Bellingham and Sancho. Boosts the squad and the HG numbers. Simples.
we should have tried for bellingham just a tad harder when he left brumland. At this point Dortmund are one of the worst clubs to try deal with. they don't need to cash so horde young players up. they underachieve if anything as they have too many young players
wouldn't have made any difference from what i've seen . He seems a pretty grounded lad and made sure Brum got decent money for him and he wanted to go somewhere with pretty clear path to first team football and Germany in general and Dormund in particular were clear favourites due to the flow of young players who have gone there from UK and flourished . Oh and his agent seemed more interested in his long term future than a quick poubd unlike quite a few .
he's just left yes but he was in the <21 grouping so didn't count and still would not have counted. City have real scope to bring in very expensive players now.
they got 25mil for him. If we really thought he was a top player we coudl top the offer to him without question. hes only on about 50k per week there lol. thats the level of commitment dortmund put in. not one person here last summer would have said forget thaigo, go get bellingham for 25mil and pay him 100k per week.
Moneyball in the right environment works. I do not expect any major signing for Liverpool. I fully expect us to purchase Jota like players who are undervalued in the market but whose data suggests a massive upside
Now that's a question. If first we thought the risk of the fee worth it and if second we thought paying a child 100k per week was a risk worth taking then maybe he would have had his head turned. It really is a lot of ifs. Are lfc more attractive than Dortmund? All day every day imo. Would he get games? Maybe. Would he be worth the risk? Last summer no. This summer it's obvious yes. That's the game isnt it?
Good. I heard that much like Firmino he is enjoying life here with his family and enjoys the admiration the fans have for him
