It all looks very good and positive. Almost too good to be true! My QPR instinct after years of supporting (or more precisely suffering) tells me that something bad and unexpected will happen. I really hope that we will have a long period of entertaining football and results we can be both proud and pleased about.
Yes. Been there done that. Over and over again. A possible scenario would be: 1 One or more of our much prized Ds is sold to ensure we can see out the next season 2 We sign replacement(s) who don't cut the mustard 3 Our first six games are against the promotion contenders. 4 We lose all six by the odd goal hitting both posts and cross bar in each game only to concede the winner in injury time through shambolic defending. 5 Warburton bemoans the tiredness of the squad because we've played the same number of games as everyone else. 6 New signings get themselves sent off needlessly. 7 In the 7th game we play the team without a point so far (let's call them Coventry) don't turn up and get beaten well. 8 We lose to Sutton United in the 1st round of the League Cup 9 On the Sunday after the Coventry game a member of the Board dismisses Warburton thanking him for everything he has done, saying it's the hardest decision he's ever had to make but time for new man with new ideas before we get cut adrift. 10 Quite by coincidence, Tony Fernandes has been seen dining out with Tony Pulis. 11 The very next day Pulis is signed and in the Press conference kisses the badge and tells the reporters that this is the dream job he's been waiting for all his life. 12 He tells us of his vision to continue an attractive passing attacking game while instilling a bit of steel into our defence. 13 The day after that we sign three giants, the shortest being 6 feet 8 inches tall as well as Peter Crouch and Ryan Shawcross for spare parts. You read it here first.
Ooh crumbs! I hope that this very positive thread does not now turn into a confession of our worst nightmares. I am still not fully content. I want to see the signing of Stefan Johansen!
I suppose the only thing you could add to this is that the whole of the squad plus the under 23's, under 18's and everything else under this gets the deadliest new Corona strain (the Outer *****lian strain) and they all die. Nothing like a happy ending!!
Think we have done pretty well so far. 3 in that we wanted, hopefully a forth. Still hoping that someone offers £13 mill for Kane - we could do a lot with that sort of cash
Well our fan base on Twitter is reaching peak hysteria, almost begging him to sign. Not much to glean other than talks are on-going. He isn't on Fulham's released list as they will be wanting dosh. Hopefully we'll hear something this week.
I saw on another site that Palace have released these players. So old names in there. Not saying I want any at QPR. Aveiro, Brandon Paulo Vale Bryon, Lewis Cahill, Gary James Clyne, Nathaniel Edwin Dann, Scott Flanagan, Kian Gonzalez Quintero, Kevin Hale, Harlem Kenroy Henderson, Stephen Francis Hennessey, Wayne Robert Hobbs, Lewis James Luthra, Rohan Matthews, Alfie Jacob McCarthy, James Patrick Russell, Jacob Luke Russell, Jude Thomas Sakho, Mamadou Townsend, Andros Van Aanholt, Patrick John Miguel Ward, Joel Edward Philip Wickham, Connor Neil Ralph Woods, Samuel John
Gaetano Berardi set to be released by Leeds. I know he is 32 but even so for the coming season that could be just what we need in that dreaded right back position
That’s a shed-load of players to release! Can’t help think that has a big element of bad management to be that overloaded.
If we're looking at players in that age bracket, I'd much rather we went for Barry Douglas, also released by Leeds, to compete with Wallace. Always rated him when I've seen him play, and promoted with both Wolves and Leeds. Guessing wages are high though, and not exactly planning for the future.
