Thus may fall flat but thought I'd start a thread for this in case there are any more runners on here. Looking like we mat have a part season this year. Durham 10k and sunderland half look likely to be going ahead and gnr are sending messages to confirm too. I'm in for Manchester marathon and although I've had a lot of injuries over winter I'm hoping to ramp up training from this weekend.

Any other runners here? Could share motivation tips etc.

I completed the couch to 5k about this time last year then carried on. I was doing 10k 2 or 3 times a week since but then in January I tore a cartilage in my knee and still not able run further than 3k atm. I can't wait until its good enough to get back running again proper.

Up to 12 miles now. From sol down to riverside and harbour. Through roker park and on to Marsden grotto and back. Very misty at 3pm when I started. All good for 9 miles as doing 9 or 9.20 mins per mile. Then fell to bits from roker onwards. Managed the 12 in under 2 hours. Sunderland half on 20th and looking on course for under 2 hour finish.

That's what I've got in my left foot, Pitty . . . . from playing football twice a week to not being able to 'cos of fascism in my foot <steam>

My only exercise now is cycling, weather permitting, and even then it's only once a week. Having said that, I'm half way through a solo bike ride now (sitting in my office in Sunderland having a cup of coffee :emoticon-0162-coffe 'cos cafés aren't open yet) :emoticon-0148-yes:

I'm out again tomorrow with a mate, which shouldn't be as boring and cafés will be open (I hope, with it being a bank holiday). We'll be looking for a cuppa at the mobile thingy in Roker Park, hoping that it's there . . . . 'cos it's not reliable.

I'm working with a Podiatrist atm...it will take several months ( apparently it takes years to get bad PF and it can take ages to cure it). Atm i put some weights in a backpack balance half a foot on a stair for about a minute , rest a repeat, several times. Also do a bit of a shuffle minus the weights. The theory is you have rehabilitate your ankles and calves and reprogramme your brain to send the right signals. I am at the foundation stage there are 2 further stages to go.
I am using a buggy to play golf.

Nobody's mentioned 'stages' to me, Pitty . . . . I've done lots of exercises and Mrs. A. massages the area most nights, but no stages !

I had a scan 2 weeks ago and I've got an appointment next wednesday, so I'll mention it then . . . . cheers :emoticon-0105-wink:

I find that motivation is the key. I've manchester marathon in October. I would love a sub 4 hour finish but don't want to embarrass myself. It's my third go and I'm carrying some timber, but can shift when needed.

Have they not got you to put your foot flat on the floor and use your toes to crawl your foot away from you whilst you’re sitting down?

Sunderland half complete. 1.59 which is acceptable but not great. Got water intake all wrong. Did 14 miles the week before and will up from there to get to 23 miles by mid September in hope to get under 4 hours at Manchester marathon.

Was great day yesterday showing of parts of city. Shame we had a distanced start. I usually drink after but went straight home. Hope next year is back to normal.

Changing the route like that is absolutely nonsensical, and it serves no purpose other than to take away business from places in South Shields like The Bamburgh and The New Crown, the selfish/stupid black & white twats :emoticon-0183-swear

Instead of having spectators spread out over the whole route, they'll gather en masse around the Land of Darkness in more dense groups than usual, heightening the risks of spreading the virus <doh>

At least 'Sheels won't be 'cut off' that day, so there is a 'plus' I suppose :emoticon-0112-wonde

Last one doing.... and only because I can't get refund. Was going to do 10 and on 9 this year but after this I'll not be contributing to Brendan fosters retirement fund any longer.

Hat. Protect the neck. Plenty of fluids. Run slowly and steadily. It’s a training run not a race. Best advice is don’t run in the heat unless you really have to.
