Off Topic The Burly Arms

Looks to me as though you want to remove the cover from the ceiling rose/plate, it's there for a reason. Also as you have identified it's not flush with the ceiling. Also I don't know if the plate you are covering with, conducts electricity if in contact with a live wire.

So what I'm saying is you are not an electrician so leave it alone, unless you want to end up looking like Marv out of Home Alone.

 

Too late bruv. I just broke the plate with the earth wire in and shoved that up in the ceiling with the rest
