End of the day what will be, will be. Bielsa knows these players inside out. we generally just see them on a game day. We all trust him and it's very hard to disagree with his thoughts. We have a very small wage bill to most of the premier League so we have more time to play about with them and give them more of a chance. Personally I don't think Roberts will be here next season. not because we will push him out, I just think someone will come in for him and if that offer is right for both parties there could be a deal in the offering with him being out of contract next summer.
I might be doing him an injustice but... Bielsa and Leeds have stuck by him this season despite the lack of goals when I’m sure every other PL manager would never have played him ahead of Rodrigo. If Roberts comes good next season and knocked in 20 goals I’d bet my house on it that he’d be engineering a move away to a top 4 team. He thinks he is better than he is, he doesn’t seem the kind of player that would give an ounce of loyalty
My position on KP et al is quite straightforward - if they want to leave, let them - even if it's below true market value. If his head isn't at ER, then there's no point in the rest of him being there. There are lots more out there who's heart would burst if Bielsa came in for them.
mr sanctimonious calls mr over-sensitive out as mr grumpy wasn’t suggesting you don’t know football - what I was saying is it’s obvious he has talent and it’s just as obvious he hasn’t shown it often enough - but can see as it was a reply to your post you might take it that way. Not intended. so if you take away the unintended insult and read what I actually said... about how long to give him, I included no more years as an acceptable view I get that everyone wants to see kids given a chance... I just back the guys who watch them every day to decide who’s ready and when.
I don’t recall ever watching an interview with him. I genuinely don’t have an opinion on him as a person either way. I get the knee/salute thing winds people up, but what have you heard from him to suggest he’s a billy big time.
I softened my view of Roberts recently when I saw him interviewed after the last game. Perhaps it was a one-off, but I was left with the impression that the lad just seemed so terribly, terribly thick to me. If indeed that is the case, it explains quite a lot.
Hmmn, when a footballer seems terribly thick... in the context of footballers At least we should get a transfer fee and do t have to worry that he’ll retire young to pursue a career with nasa.
Pretty sure this isn't the Roberts vid I watched, as I'm sure there were 2 of them in the interview. This one gives an inkling ....
Football has nothing to do with it, anyone who insists on giving the black power salute can go do one as far as I am concerned.
Firstly the knee, I wish all players would stop and I’ve never personally singled out Roberts, if I remember right I think I actually defended him a while back saying he is probably ill educated on the “power salute” thing. It’s just his demeanour on the pitch that I can’t take to, like I said I might be doing him a total injustice and it’s my problem imagining something that isn’t there. If he stays I hope he becomes top class, if he leaves I’ll be excited at a new signing
Just a thought, but I think Roberts would have benefitted having a big old centre forward as a team-mate, who would batter fcuk out of him in the dressing room for his easily avoidable repeat mistakes. No, really .....
Might Lowy's appointment to the board be one of the bigger factors as to what players stay and what players come in ? I know as a Leeds fan that I still expect us to be selling our better players at the end of each season, maybe we need a bit more confidence in the facts that we are a team that is going places, with the best manager in the world and with people such as Lowy around able to compete for the best players. I reckon winners will want to come and winners will want to stay.
Morning all. NO ONE is bigger than the club. I am sure Marcelo would not play anyone who did not want to play for the club.
