Play off predictions - just for fun!!

With the 3 play off finals taking place this coming weekend, Brentford v Swansea Sat, Blackpool v Lincoln Sun. and Morecambe v Newport Mon, thought it might be interesting to predict the outcomes. Always near impossible as each game is a one off cup final scenario, but will give it a go anyway, as there's not much else going on at present. Brentford finished 3rd with 87 points, Swansea 4th with 80 points, plus Brentford's goal difference is 20 better than Swansea, so one would assume Brentford by a couple of goals margin. In league 1, Blackpool finished 3rd with 80 points, Lincoln 5th with 77 points, Blackpool's goal difference being only 4 better than Lincoln's, so harder to call but I'll go for Blackpool, again by a single goal margin. In league 2, we have Morecambe who finished 4th with 78 points, and Newport in 5th place with 73 points, although Newport have the better goal difference by 4 goals. I have a gut feeling that Newport might nick this one so am going for a narrow Welsh victory. Wondered what the rest of you think - in a way it's quite nice not really caring who wins any of them this season.

Well I said 3-0 to Brentford, so I was close!

If anybody has Sky go to the scores and look at the free highlight's, Brentford were very good and CJS was about 6 inches from being spot on with his prediction

Story of my life

 

Pleased with the 2 goal margin for Brentford yesterday, wish I'd put some money on it now! Think today could be a less cautious affair with both teams going for it, still think Blackpool will edge it, going for an exciting 3-2 scoreline. Interesting debate about who is leading after yesterday's game - Bluebaldee was correct with the Brenford win and the fact that they scored twice, whereas CJS was also correct with the Brenford win and the fact that they kept a clean sheet. Gonna have to give this a lot of thought as the prize for the eventual winner will be well worth winning, so there's a lot at stake! Watch this space!!!

 

With Brentford dominating and Swansea with a man down and didn't even get a shot on target, it was much closer to Brentford scoring a 3rd goal than Swansea scoring 1

Congrats to Blue Baldee for getting correct result again, and Old Timer for being spot on with the scoreline. All to play for tomorrow now - still got a feeling Newport will sneak through 1-0, even though Morecambe probably deserve to win through, based on their season as a whole.

 

75 minutes gone Morecombe 0 - 0 Newport County makes my 3 - 4 prediction look a bit silly. Mind you if it does finish 3 - 4 they will have an incredible last 15 minutes plus stoppage time.

Both sides have made substitutions strikers in both cases

0 - 0 at full time they have 30 minutes to score 7 goals so I can win this round of guess the score, commentators for sky are predicting a penalty shootout

Wow, didn't see the game today, but I hear there's some very unhappy Welsh people at the moment! Still, it will be a far easier journey to Newport next season than trudging up to Morecambe. With the results now in, Brenford 2-0 Swansea, Blackpool 2-1 Lincoln and Morcambe 0-0 Newport, and using the accepted norm of 3 points for correct result, 5 points for exact score, the undisputed winner is Bluebaldee with 6 points, closely followed with Old Timer on 5 points. CJS was a credible 3rd with 3 points (but very unlucky with the Brentford score) and Gastronomic in 4th place. So it's congratulations to Blluebaldee for winning - unfortunately,if you study the terms and conditions of the competition, the 1st prize of an all expenses first class holiday to Barbados, with £2000 spending money. is only payable to anyone scoring 7 points or more, so sadly has not been won on this occasssion, but you were extremely close, if that's any consolation!! Thanks to everyone who took part in this mini-game, made the long weekend more interesting.

 

Oh well, close but no cigar (or 1st class trip to Barbados!).
