I keep an eye on Notts County. I remember about 20 year ago watching a program about them, I forget what, but the team hadn't been paid in about 3 months. It wasn't as common as you hear about now. I remember the captain being interviewed saying something along the lines of "we aren't on premier league wages, but we all have mortgages to pay, bills to pay, most of the lads have had to borrow from family" When asked if they had considered strike, he said not a chance, we don't want to let the fans down. Ever since then I keep an eye as it always stuck in my mind.
No-one else for me. Flirtations with Man City when i lived there as a student, Arsenal when living in London but nee emotional attachment to either. There's only one team capable of boiling my piss, make me howl with laughter and cry... ocassionally with joy. All in the space of 2 hours, the bastards.
My 2nd team is AFC Wimbledon. I hated the old crazy gang now MK Dons but when they moved to MK the fans organised trials on Wimbledon Common and created a new team. I live in Wimbledon and saw a programme from one of thier early seasons. The league average attendance was abou 100 but they were getting 4k. I still cannot believe they are in the same division as us now!
My son in law is a season ticket holder at Aston Villa so family reasons will go for them as the second team.
I've got more than one. My maternal grandfather was a Chelsea fan and it was him that got me into football, so they've always been my 'other' team. He died in 1989 so he never got to see what they became under Abramovich. I've got a season ticket at Witham Town of the Isthmian League due to a close link with my wife's family. Due to the same link, I have a deep love for Basildon Utd, also of the Isthmian League, due to a difficult period in our lives coinciding with a period of success for the club and the boost that gave us. My in laws are also all Hammers, so often get to use their season tickets, and therefore have a little bit of a soft spot for them. On top of that, I have an affection for a variety of clubs both here and abroad due to friends or family members. Carlisle, Chesterfield, Dunfermline Athletic, Hertha Berlin, Club Brugge are clubs whose results I always check. Basically, I'm a football whore.
A good mate of mine who I worked abroad with was a staunch Rangers fan - never missed a game home or away and in Europe for 30 odd years. Whenever we were both back in the country, he would get me tickets for Ibrox, and when I worked in Europe, I got tickets for matches in Prague, Seville and Lisbon. The piss-ups were legendary! So Rangers have become my second team. Loved Colin Bell when I was a kid, so had a soft spot for Citeh back then, but not now. Followed Hearts when I was young too, but only cos my uncle was the club doctor.
No genuine second team at all that I'd go and watch and support like I do Sunderland but I've got a big soft spot for lots of Italian sides after growing up watching Football Italia with my dad. Roma, Lazio, AC, Sampdoria, Inter, Juventus...loved them and I still want them to win.
Football Italia was something else. Made me desperate to visit Italy. It wasn't just that all the best players were there at the time, I wanted to sit in some piazza, drinking espresso, and reading Gazzetta dello Sport like James Richardson, the coolest man on earth.
How could I forget Baggio?! Yeah, brilliant. It was like watching football from another world at the time. Did you see the documentary about it last year?
In my late 20's I lived in Warrington and used to go watch Man City. I have a load of City mates and i'm thrilled to see what has happened to them, trust me these fans can hardly believe what has happened to them, I'm jealous and happy for them at the same time

Ineos Grenadier. **** at football cos they are all skinny fit bastards but immense at climbing ridiculous mountain stages on two wheels and a bike frame.
Served my time and went to college in Hartlepools knocked around with lads from there so went to the odd match. One that sticks out is the cup game against Aston Villa when Peter Withe was upfront for villa. Rink end was pretty full that night. Still look out for their results. I'd like to see the Club set up closer ties with local clubs, well at the moment non league clubs, loan out young lads pre season friendlies, offers of training sessions etc help keep them alive and you never know pick up the odd player.
Norwich City - whenever we played against them and whatever the result their fans were always friendly towards us, and we reciprocated too. Always look for their results.
