It will only be marginally worse in standard than the Europa league. The difference in quality between the sixth and seventh placed teams in the bigger leagues is negligible and the same is true for first and second in the others.

Also it is important to win the group as that gets you through to the last sixteen whereas the runners-up up have to play off with a Europa League third place team. That shouldn't present a problem I suppose but best to avoid it.

We are in Europa conference therefore we should be in it to win it, there would surely be some Kudos in being the first winners and we need to experience winning as a team as we are frequently told that winning the first one makes it easier to win others.

We say this about Europa and look how that ends up. Usually get knocked out by a team that on paper isn’t that good.

I can’t help but feel if we won it...it kind of signifies our level as we couldn’t even win the Europa or get close to it. Got done by a gutsy not elite European team on their own turf...it’s embarrassing. I’m sure I’ll get behind the team but I do t want to feel co for table playing in this third tier cup.

I think that it's 17 games to win it. That's half an additional league season....I'm all for winning it but not at the cost of a manager, like Mourinho, flogging the squad to the point of exhaustion to do so.

It'll bring in no cash and minimal glory, so leave whatever guaranteed starters we are left with, out of it until it gets interesting. If we go out before they get to play, so be it. We'd be far better off throwing resources at the domestic cups. We could win both and play less games.

Fifteen games actually. Lower quality than domestic cups as well

Over to our mate Bert ...

    https://kassiesa.net/uefa/#ecl

13 to win the thing, when straight into the group stages, and finish top of the group.
So two less than the EL equivalent.

So how many qualifiers do Spurs have to play to get to the group stage ??

    Only 15? Excellent. <laugh>

I think I dealt with the quality issue by suggesting we don't play whatever quality we're left with, after our best players leave this summer, against завод вибраторов in Somewhere-istan on Thursday night, before playing a big PL game on Sunday.

15 games if we top the group, which tbh we really should even playing a heavily rotated side.

But you are right. The FA cup is 6 games, seen as a more prestigious trophy and comes with exactly the same prize - a spot in next season's Europa.

Taking the competition seriously makes very little sense.

We go into the 3rd qualifying round which is played over two legs on Aug 19th and 26th. At least that's after the season has started this time. But it does mean a minimum 15 games to win the thing.

"I want us to win trophies"
We stumble into the Europa Conference league

Winning the EL gets you a place in the CL.

Winning this thing would get us a place in The Eurovision Song Contest and a prize equivalent to what the club makes on selling sausage rolls.

    It's not a priority.

As TCM said, I think we should be in it to win it.

I'm never really a fan of disrespecting cups. For sure there are times where we can - and should - play rotated sides but I think we should always go into any competition with the aim of winning it. The prize money is only of concern to the club, it doesn't essentially bother any of us if the club earns £1m or £100m.

The potential of being the first team to win this should also be something to play for even if it is a 3rd tier competition. We're in the tournament for a reason so I don't think it's beneath us, especially as we've won jack since 2008.

I'll be bitterly disappointed if we don't at least make the semis. In truth, I'll probably be disappointed if we don't win it. So far we're the biggest club involved I'd say and with or without Kane should have enough to dispatch most teams with the right attitude. Roma and Villarreal are the ones to fear so far, plus there's one or two yet to be decided but we have to believe we can beat these teams.

I agree that we should not see the likes of Hugo or Sonny playing in this competition, but we should be competitive certainly in the groups by utilising our squad players and some youngsters. Players who aren't playing week in week out in the prem will need game time in order for them to be match ready when they are needed for a premier league match. It is likely that we will still have a squad of somewhere near 25 players and hopefully a manager who will actually see the benefit of rotating some of these players through this competition to keep them match ready and competitive.

We have also to remember that there will coefficient points for winning matches and these will keep us well placed for better groups if/when we are back in the champions league.

I've always wondered where they came from. I now know they are manufactured in Somewhereistan.

The coefficient issue is very important.
Trying to win it while resting our best players are not mutual exclusives. What we don't need to do is play the youth team en masse.

No problem with that, if it happens. It would make a very nice change from our last 2 permanent managers.

If our next manager isn't going to use a player, Levy or someone needs to get them out of the club and replaced,so we protect our best players and compete across multiple fronts, as best we can. It's a question of setting goals and prioritising them, something that seems to be completely lacking at the club.

Way too early to know who will and won't be here next season but having a rough guess based on:
    Current players likely to stay
    Excluding some who may leave
    Returning loanees
    Youngsters

We can probably look at fielding an XI in some of the early fixtures along the lines of something like:

    Hart/ Gazzaniga
    Doherty, Tanganga, Rodon, Sessegnon
    Skipp, Devine
    Clarke, Lucas, Bergwijn
    Scarlett/ Parrott

I'd be quite excited at seeing a team like that, youngsters and younger first team players who'll be looking to establish themselves, one or two good squad players who'll be wanting to show the manager they're deserving of higher status and then for insurance purposes we can have one or two big hitters on the bench.
