Good Morning. It's Monday 24th May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds sign off in style An emotionally charged Elland Road witnessed scenes of brilliance, discipline and camaraderie as Leeds signed the season off in style. A rejuvenated Rodrigo headed the Whites ahead from a corner on 17 minutes. It was nothing more than they deserved, having had a goal chalked off moments beforehand. Kalvin Phillips doubled the lead just before half time. The bounce on the swerving free kick deceived Johnson handed the Yorkshire Pirlo his first goal of the season. Second half substitute Bamford cemented the ninth place finish in the top flight from the penalty spot when Yokuslu handled in the area. Robson-Kanu grabbed a late consolation for the visitors in stoppage time, but the day belonged to Leeds, albeit two great servants to the club! please log in to view this image Emotional farewell for duo Pablo Hernandez turned back the clock one last time, exhibiting his silky skills, vision and tenacity that made the 36yo sch an inspiration over the last five seasons, and influential in Leeds finally reaching the top flight. If you were to point out one thing former Leeds owner Massimo Cellino got right during his ownership at LS11, few would argue it was bringing Gaetano Berardi to Elland Road. The seven year veteran may have only played 143 times for the Whites but he went to war for Leeds Utd every time he donned the shirt. His grit, determination and tough tackling made him a fans favourite. With twenty minutes on the clock, came the inevitable moments we had all been dreading - the double substitutions of two modern day icons. Even the most hardened of Leeds fans had something in their eye at that moment making them water. please log in to view this image Phillips Injury update Kalvin Phillips inclusion in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the Euro's has been thrown into doubt when they 25yo picked up an injury in the closing moments of Leeds 3-1 win over West Brom yesterday. The Yorkshire Pirlo may have aggravated an old shoulder injury after a lunging tackle on Grady Diangana. Phillips hobbled off the field clutching his shoulder, followed very quickly by the Leeds medical team. Such was the injury, that Phillips was unable to participate in Leeds lap of honour. Further scans later today should tell whether he'll be fit enough to participate in the Summer tournament. After the game, Bielsa was quoted as saying:- “I haven’t received any information about the gravity of it,” “We all hope it’s something that can be resolved quickly. “Knowing the fortitude of Kalvin I know he has the resources to recover quickly.” please log in to view this image
Morning all.... Great first season back, I hope we secure any Bielsa targets nice and early and get them settled in. Let the wheel of the crazy rumour mill start to turn as we get linked with just about every player who’s agent is trying to engineer a move or pay rise.
Morning all, Wonderful send off yesterday for two players have cemented themselves in Leeds legend. Im sure I was not the only one with a tear or two in their eye. I agree that it would be nice to have any new players brought in early to stop a whole summer of rumours and arguing.
Harvested my rhubarb on Saturday. Made a lovely rhubarb and apple crumble with it. There was that much of it I set off knocking on all the neighbours doors peddling the stuff.
Do we assume Kiko is going nowhere? No send off for Alioski will he sign a new contract? Are we waiting to see if we can secure a new LB before making a final decision? They were two events left unanswered in the big send off for Berardi and Pablo
Answered my own question, Dallas confirms Alioski is leaving https://motleedsnews.com/matchday/d...irst-team-player-is-leaving-club-this-summer/ Watch the video, shows how close the team is
Kikko did little wrong in the two games, admittedly there wasn't a lot of pressure in them, so if he has one year left I'd just let his contract wind down. Bielsa signing is the most important thing IMO . After that everything else will be a bonus.
First season back, have gone toe to toe with the big boys or some of the do called big boys and not feared them. Finished ninth, fantastic achievement, job done. Two points I would like to highlight is that Cooper was lucky not to be sent off in the first minute, senseless what he did, the other was what the hell was Philips thinking off lunging in, that’s a sign of immaturity on his behalf, very disappointing.
I thought the ref was a bit of a wet lettuce, he didn't really seem to know what the **** he was doing.
Yes agreed Shaks bit this shielding the ball when going out to play is bollocks, but Cooper decides to stiff are the player in his face ffs
What a day! Not a bad head either with the alcohol intake We get a glimpse of what life was before but then we have to go in a waiting game again with the end of the season. Very happy we won but the result didn't matter to me yesterday. Phillips has probably cost himself a place in the euros trying to put in a big tackle to make up for his mistake to their goal. Shed a few years for Pablo and Bera even Alioski got me yesterday he lost it when Bera went off not seen it back on the TV yet. The ball is now in Alioski's hands coming from the awards last night. the club and players want him to stay. Orta and Dallas tried one last chance to make him change his mind. 9th and hearing all the right noises last night. the future is bright the future is White. As on transfers I agree I'd like them in the door ASAP. easier said than done though especially with the euro's around the corner. As on what will we do now the footy is over I'm preparing for a couple of coast to coast charity rides defo Whitehaven to Tynemouth which I'm doing next month. MOT Lads and lasses have a good summer in whatever you do.
I agree, it was a silly thing to do and another ref might have sent him off. Maybe Coops was just pumped up and just got caught up in the moment.
There are more important posistions to strengthen this summer than goalkeeper. Meslier has proven himself to be an excellent number 1. If he stays fit then I agree no reason not to let Kiko run his contract down. Concentrate on other more important things for now.
Spot on Isn't it great not to be involved in the play offs. The evil in me would like to see Brentford **** it up again...
Absolutley. I do not want either of the teams in the final to be promoted tbh but really do not want Brentford to win. There manager, Thomas Frank, is a twat of the first degree and to me they got lucky on Saturday. Equalising penatly was harsh and a wicked deflection for their second goal.
