Shame, but at least Leicester get to play in the Euro Sub National Second Level Premier Conference Super Cup. Or something.
I suppose it’s great for the fans to have a chance to travel etc, but do we really need yet another competition? I wouldn’t shun it if, by some miracle, QPR qualified, of course. Interesting final table. From Villa down it’s avoid relegation at all costs league, then there is a small league of mediocrity (which Villa might squeeze into) and five teams away at the top. Can’t see much changing next season, doubt that Spurs or Arsenal will be any better, we’ll find out if West Ham had a freak season, Everton under Ancelotti I would expect to be better, Leicester, if they hold on to Rodgers and invest wisely, can continue to irritate the entitled. Just been accused of being evil when Mrs SB sighed in relief that the season is over, and I had to remind her, with a grin, that the Euros are next……
Bu**er. Really wanted Chelsea down into Europa League and Spurs out of Europe altogether. Mind you, I can’t see Spurs doing anything much without Kane (just as I can see us doing better without Kane!)
Exactly the same here... Mrs DaveRangers: I thought it was the last game last week. Dave: That was QPR, this is the last round of the Premiership...some exciting scenarios will be decided. Mrs DaveRangers: so after today it's finished. Dave: yeah, until the Euros start. Mrs DaveRangers: what! Is there no break at all? Dave: a couple of weeks...great isn't it. Mrs DaveRangers: mmm...no. Trying to decide at what stage of the week I need to drop the Champions League Final into casual conversation. Maybe just after the Europa League Final. As I type this, I'm realising she might have a point.
So I am ready excited. I have my Euro2020 volunteer job back . I am again a pool driver and I have shifts on every match day...stationed at Wembley. A month of volunteering and driving..fingers crossed let's hope nowt goes wrong again. Then 5 days off before our first preseason friendly.
Retired (or at moment) semi retired scientist Jeff I first volunteed at the 2012 Olympics, in a scientific role but for some reason I was given a driver job. Since then I have managed to get volunteer driving jobs at Cricket and Hockey World Cups and at World and European Athletic Championship..and now Euro2020. No idea why ... But since I love driving and it is always a pretty neat experience I don't complain.
An excellent initiative which also gives you enjoyment and satisfaction. Wonderfull! One question. During these “match days”, do you get a chance to the respective match (either live or on a screen) or are you “working”?
Varies .... On the whole as a driver you don't see much, as you are often on standby, or driving But you do get to drive some interesting people. I drove Brendan Foster for a day at the world athletics championships...and Seb Coe once at the Olympics. However I did see matches at both Hockey and Cricket..when I was on shift before and after the match. No one needs a driver during a match. However we have already told there will not be the usual rest area at Euro2020, with a TV due to Covid restrictions....which may be a bit of shame as I am working all Englands matches as well as both semi finals and final.
Mrs TR was utterly dismayed when they were talking about the Euros this morning, she was hoping that the whole football thing had finished until August........ Seems to be a recurring theme.......
As far as I can tell there is no professional football being played in this country today. I feel a bit dizzy.
