Thought it about time a thread was up to discuss some of the build-up to the Euros. This ad has just started doing the rounds up here Hoping Lyndon has a cracking tournament, just not against England, although I think Scotland will struggle against all three teams in the group When does the England squad get announced? There's some strength in depth throughout most positions, so be interesting to see who Southgate goes for. Will his team be able to hold their nerve on the big stage, or will it be one of the regulars who see it through? The England - Scotland game is the day before my birthday so all my pals are planning a get-together where I will be heavily outnumbered so hope we stuff them! Last time when Kane got a last minute equaliser was hilarious
I have a funny feeling it’s gonna be England’s year, we have some incredibly talented young players who seem to show no fear in the big games.
The only drawback is the 'belt & braces' manager who doesn't seem to like letting the handbrake off...
What are the odds on Lyndon scoring a hat trick in the final, and Scotland winning the tournament with a 3-0 win over England? I do expect he'd be "rested" for Gillingham 5 days later.
I think the odds are pretty high that your bookie will be calling the men in white coats to get you sectioned if you put that bet on
Ill leave it well alone then! But this tournament has thrown up some big surprises. I was in Greece when they won it in Portugal in 2004, many went far beyond the stage of men in white coats getting near them. I also remember being in Portugal when Denmark won it in 92, only in the finals due to the break up of Jugoslavia. Czeckoslovakia won in 76 too.
Yes, the Euros are quickly creeping up on us. With the pandemic and other distractions I have not given it much thought, and it almost an unexpected “bonus”. I have not studied the form of other teams, but I also think that England have a good opportunity for success. Of course they have to perform, but they have the players, and if not now, then when will they have a better opportunity?
So he's provisionally named a squad of 33, that he has to trim to 26 by the 10th. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57239842
We’ve got a lot of similar players and as good as he is I don’t see where he gets in given he’s pretty fixed to one position.
Don't get excited. Don't get excited. Don't get excited. Don't get excited. Don't get excited. Don't get excited. Don't get excited. Don't get excited. Don't get excited. Don't get excited. Oh no. I'M EXCITED.
Saka doesn’t excite me and Dier worries me. I also think Southgate is our weakest link. Apart from that I think we should be alright.
I had to look Ben White and Ben Godfrey up. Wasn’t Trippier banned for gambling offences? But he is a league winner. Have Bellingham and Sancho had good seasons? Presumably Southgate hasn’t been able to travel to watch them. Goalkeeping looks a bit average. This looks like a squad for the future. Just like every other squad for the last ****ing 55 years.
