An early Sunderland goal and the mood will change completely. I can only hope that the players haven't given up as some supporters seem to have done. We have enough players capable of scoring that goal and Lincoln have a 'panic' default when things go against them. We've beaten them 4-0 this season and Johnson will remind them about that. Haway Lads, some of us are Sunderland Til I Die .... ... not just til we have to grit our teeth and come out fighting.
Today's the day the players have their own destiny in their hands, they either get they're mojo back and get to the final or they disappear down the tunnel at full time never to be seen in a red and white shirt again, it's completely up to them so over to you boys.
We have to start attacking right from the start, none of this pedestrian, we gave just got out of bed walking football.... an early goal will be great.... otherwise?
Even Oxford who were 3-0 down had a right go and restored some pride , after scoring first and if they could have managed another it could have become very interesting - at least they had a go .
Trouble is most of them won't be seen in a red n white shirt again even if we go up, that's the problem. How much do they want it. They've got more chance if we're in this league again.
Go up they may get a brown envelope. Dont go up and I believe every single one of them out of contract will be gone. 3 x managers gone in 3 seasons. Same nucleus of players. Get them out.
We don't have the players to do that, unfortunately. I fully expect us to go with Power and Leadbitter AKA backwards and sidewards in midfield.
Leads at the back in front of CBs is fine, as long as there is movement ahead of him he is the best passer we have. Too many times though nobody up front is making themselves available for a pass, so he has no option but to lay it off to say Scowen.
That's why I think we'll go long ball today, as our midfield cannot match theirs. Their right winger Scully is dangerous and will cause us a lot of problems down our left with Hume out injured and that turkey McFadzean in his place.
Wow, few digs at any fan who dares to be less than blindly optimistic in this thread. Just a reminder that despite anyones predictions or thoughts on the game, we all want Sunderland to win and are Sunderland til we die. Anyone who questions another fans love of the club has pulled what I'd call a 'dick' move and its far more harmful to the club to be lemmings than to question.
