The grave is for my 17 yr old lad. He had a ****in paddy yesterday morning and slammed the door so hard one of the hinges came away and badly split the frame.
Spent half an hour yesterday repairing the frame and re hung it this morning.
    Cascamite is fantastic stuff.

That's how foundations work. Did a bigger version when I built my extension and the building inspector seemed happy.
Anyway, my neighbour just gave me some rebar. Probably doesn't need it but may aswell hoy it in. IMG20210516133645_copy_2000x1500.jpg

Ah, I get what you're saying now. Concrete founds first then brickwork up to step level.

The rebar won't hurt, it'll make it stronger, although it isn't a big step, so don't need it... I'd still put a wood frame around the step, but like the rebar, in a small job, it isn't necessary

Can't see the need for any sort of framework. The hole is the framework for the concrete. The concrete ain't going anywhere near above ground level so no need for shuttering.

Not sure if this should go here or the gardening thread, but I plan to make a flower bed out of a tin bath and some sleepers this weekend.

    Which will be fun.

    Will post pics.

My dad made planters out of tyres on steel wheels back in the day. Cut down the middle with the stihl saw. Turn inside out. Perfect.

Local riverside walk just up from the steps. Repaired the stile, the wooden fence and made a dog gate for the bigger dogs that can't handle the stile.
All from timber reclaimed from the river. IMG20210615154146_copy_2000x1500.jpg IMG20210615154209_copy_1500x2000.jpg
