    Sunday 16th May 2.05pm
    Premier League
    Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

A poor performance in the league, featuring a controversial, possibly game-changing decision?
Just another week in the Premier League this season with Spurs really, isn't it? Oh well.
We're nearly at the end of this awful season, so it's on to the next one.
Our opponents for this one haven't had a great one either, but they'll be looking to finish in the top half.
Can Mason get things back on track or will Dr Nuno Espirito Santo continue his side's run at our ground/s?

This is Wolves' 3rd season in the top flight since their return, having won the Championship in 2018.
The previous two were very impressive, resulting in a pair of 7th place finishes and some very solid campaigns.
The injection of Chinese money and a dodgy Portuguese agent has worked well for them.
This campaign has been something of a backwards step for them though, possibly due to one major injury.
Raul Jimenez had scored 4 in 10 league games when a clash of heads fractured his skull, unfortunately.

The following run in the league somewhat doomed any hopes that they may have had for success.
They dropped from 7th to 14th, losing 7 and winning only 1 of the next 10 matches.
The acquisition of Willian Jose and integration of Fabio Silva have helped to steady the ship now.
Their form has picked up considerably, despite neither of those players scoring many goals.
Jimenez is due back soon, but I doubt he'll be rushed, as it's simply not worth the risk.

The match at our places last season started well, but drifted away from us as it went on, as is tradition.
Bergwijn gave us an early lead, as an Aurier cross was spurned by both Moura and Alli before he put it away.
Some awful defending by Dier and Tanganga allowed Doherty to level it up quite quickly, though.
Aurier restored the lead before half-time and we had the bulk of possession and territory.
Two quick breaks allowed them to turn it around, as Jota and Jimenez scored to win it:

Our visit to the Molineaux summed up the Mourinho attack-score-defend-lose swing, for me.
Ndombele gave us the lead after a minute, as the hosts failed to adequately clear a corner.
We carried on attacking for about 15 minutes, then decided to sit back and encourage our opponents.
Reguilon missed a great chance to kill it off, but we could all see what was inevitably going to happen.
Roman Saiss was the eventual beneficiary of this, heading home late on to share the points:

No injury news yet, but Davies is the only know absence for us, at the moment.
Jimenez, Jonny, Neto and Marcal are out for the visitors, who also have doubts about Boly and Otasowie.

Lineups for each side's last league game:

Spurs: Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon; Lo Celso, Hojbjerg; Bale, Alli, Son; Kane.
Subs: Hart, Doherty, Sanchez, Winks, Ndombele, Sissoko, Bergwijn, Lamela, Moura.
    League form: DLDWWL.

Wolves: Patricio; Hoever, Coady, Kilman, Ait Nouri; Neves, Moutinho; Gibbs-White, Vitinha, Podence; Silva.
Subs: Ruddy, Semedo, Richards, Saiss, Dendoncker, Cundle, Traore, Jose, Corbeanu.
    League form: LWWLDW.

Ref: Martin Atkinson. VAR: Stuart Atwell.

    TV: Sky Sports.

How would you like to line up for this one and what would you change from the Leeds game?
Would you stick with much of the same lineup, make a few changes or go for a wholesale switch?
Which system and tactics would you use and what are you expecting Wolves to go with?

Mason's confirmed that Rodon has dropped down the pecking order.

AKA he’s not one of your mates.

It must be because of Dier's sterling form. Sterling's playing ****, too.

I'm wondering if he's been given pointers about which players to give regular games to to try and build interest ahead of the summer transfer window opening

Aurier's the obvious one, given he has a year on his contract and every sign suggests we aren't interested in extending, and I have to wonder if similar is the case for at least one of Dier and Toby

Obviously there's the counterpoint that Sanchez is reportedly set to leave and Doherty seems set to be sold and yet neither of them are getting a sniff of first team football, which begs the question whether we've already received enquiries about either of them

This is why I think the whole game is a full of **** sometimes. How is he not good enough to play when every time he has played he hasn't looked out of place?

    E.g

Whenever I saw Ryan Sessegnon play for us he looked like a rabbit caught in headlights but Rodon has been pretty solid so why is he not good enough to play? No way is Eric Dier standing out to be miles better than Rodon in training. I don't watch them train but I know that isn't happening.

Mason needs to go back to training the kids asap

I think there’s definitely some form of puppeteering going on. Even Mason’s recent press conference felt like he was reading from a note pad on what to say. Don’t like seeing the guy used like it albeit he’s also got to shoulder it too by agreeing to somewhat be a “yes man”.

I do think as HBIC said that some are being selected to try and increase their value in the shop window although I’m not sure that does apply to Dier, I think he’s too liked around the place to the point where he won’t be sold. Why he’s being picked over Rodon though I just don’t know. Rodon’s looked promising in just about all of his games, even when he made mistakes in his first few he still looked like someone with a decent future ahead of him who just needed minutes to iron things out and so it just makes no sense to be playing two players ahead of him that have both severely regressed, worse that Sanchez is making the squad over him too.

Season can’t end soon enough for me. I think we’ll see a better Sess on return and with Skipp coming back too, as cliched as it sounds, it’ll be like having two new signings. Just gotta hope the club appoints the right guy in the summer to tap into our youth, make some correct signings and begins getting us back on track, can’t afford to regress much more.

The lack of posts in the build up to this game suggest that we are about enthusiastic as the players were last weekend.

I really have no idea what to expect today - There should be a few changes just based on the poor performance at Leeds, but I have a feeling that the starting line up will show very few if any changes. Wolves season is pretty much over, so are they are on the beach or playing for their futures? We still have Europe and finishing ahead of the Goons to play for (in my mind anyway) and West Ham left the gate ajar last night with regards to the Europa league, so will we charge through it, or trip over our laces for the nth time this season. I know which I think is more likely, but lets see.

No Aurier and no balance. Weird selection.

Could be worse. Very attack minded team.

I'm glad Tanganga gets to play, but what has Ndombele done to Ryan Mason to upset him I wonder?

Looks like Aurier has been taken out of the shop window - maybe it has been decided that no amount of window dressing is going help in his case and if PSG are interested it maybe better that they don't see him play again.

He has been the biggest waste of money in this club's history?

Scored a wonder goal against bottom of the league Sheff Utd and everyone went 'oooh aaah'. Done feck all since then.

Isn't suited to the pace and physicality of the PL and probably never will be. That we didn't spot this despite scouting him for 2 years is criminal.

Hoever's a right-back, so that lineup might not be right. Either way, they don't have a natural left-back in the side.

Worried about Bale playing. He just doesn't cover the right side enough defensively. It's all very well claiming it's not a problem if we attack all the time but that won't happen. Just because it worked against Sheff U, look what happened against the Arse and Leeds. They know they can overload our right hand side pretty easily as Bale is going to throw the right back under the bus. Is it too much to hope that Wolves haven't noticed?

If the BBC graphic that PNP posted above is correct and Adama is playing on their left then I would suggest that they have definitely noticed.

Reading those last two posts is very interesting.
No natural LB in the Wolves team and we have a weak right flank.
I wonder who will come out on top in that battle?

Maybe more correct would be ' we are all just too tired. The season has gone on far too long, we have played too many games. Enough already! '

Er… I think we have differing opinions of this player, also on the clear wastes of money that have happened over the years at Spurs. <laugh>
