Tell me EDGE, do you pay your taxes, unlike your football team? SANTOS, As I understand it, Rangers received advice that it was kosher, and went ahead with the sceme about 9/10 years ago. About 3/4 years ago HMRC told them it was not kosher, and that they owe taxes. As I also understand it, Rangers did not pay the taxes requested, and more importantly, continued with the scheme when they had already been advised by HMRC to stop doing so.
Check the state of James the insider claiming to know everything, jumping to his own conclusion and taking the moral high ground over it. Sit doon ya fantasist.
Oh Frank, get your head out of the sand. You probably believe that Mr Whyte is a billionnaire! You also probably believe that he has also invested his own money in Rangers FC, and even cleared their debt! OK, I give you that he did spend a pound of his own money.
I have read into what was set up and it does breach the Tax rules. What I would be chasing if I was Rangers would be who gave me the advise? Was it in a signed report? Do they have any liability for the consequences? Im sure though they would have covered their backs and the full financial implications will hit Rangers. Not sure that if found guilty it would end Rangers though given that Whytes company is the only secured debt!! He could claim what he is owed and the taxman will get nil, simply start up another company / team and enter the third division!
Super I would be happy enough with Rangers going to the third division providing the third division is immediately disbanded and Scotland continues with the SPL and two other leagues with no relegation or promotion from the second division.
