Out of the 13 players gone, Im not that fussed really apart from I would have liked to see Davies be given a chance as he hadn't had one under Barton. Davies wanted to stay going by his message on twitter. And I think Leahy would have been good in L2 but he has decided to go.

Im more concerned about some of the players that we are stuck with.... for now.

Yes, I'm more concerned about the dross we have left too. There's some real passengers that we still have under contract.

Would like to have seen Hare given a chance and Davies, as they both looked decent when fit - and I think both could do a job in L2. Not bothered about the rest, even Leahy.

After Barton's very public demolition of Ehmer, he'll likely remain unused next season or be sent out on loan, Barrett's an overweight waste of time, Liddle - meh, Harries - unsure of him, Baldwin - two gears, good and catastrophic, Hanlan - not a striker, Ayunga - maybe a L2/National League striker, Williams - meh, Tutonda - meh, Rodman - too old to play on the wing now, Westbrooke - very frustrating & not a player who will thrive in the physical environment of L2.

I hope we recruit well, although I'm not holding my breath, as most of those retained have already been diplomatically (!) told by Barton that they're not good enough for a school team.

    Three managers next season too?

I was very sad to see Davies and Kelly released I thought his type of defending was missing most of the last season, was hoping Ehmer, Baldwin and Barrett would have been given transfers / contracts bought out, not convinced about tutonda, Williams. Barrett is the laziest player I can think of that has put on the Blue and White quaters

I think Harries might develop into a good player as will liddle pleased that Rodman is staying good player. Hanlan I believe is another Nichols being played out of position more an attacking mid fielder and Ayunga will get better with a senior striker to take the strain off him.

BBC are merrily reporting everyone else’s departures/retained list apart from ours. Why not? I don’t pay my bloody licence fee for my team to be ignored!

I am not a Barton fan, more because of his aggressive reputation than his management ability
I supported our first sacking last season but now think it was the wrong decision. Whatever we think of our current manager, the many who want to see him gone next season are pouring bad wishes on our club. I think it would be much better that even if we are not happy with Barton at least hope he does well and proves us wrong as we climb out of this loosing period

Zain Walker could do some damage in League 2. What's happened to him?

Interesting article on Bristol live Rovers depth chart

    2 GKs

    8 Defenders 1LB 5CHs 2 RBs

    10 Mfs 2 L 2R 6MFCs

    4 St

    Ward, Hoole Walker Jones Phillips

With Baldwin, Ehmer, Tutonda and Williams as our defence I can see us struggling to get above halfway. If we could replace those with some quality defenders and get shot of Barrett as well we might have a chance of getting a promotion, not hopeful

From the players remaining (I will include those who has been offered a contract as may not stay), this is what I would do with them...

    Keep:
    GK
Jaakkola (doubt we would be able to hold on to him)

    RB
Williams (not my cup of tea but he has experience in L2)

    CB
Kilgour (was not impressed this season but I think would do well in L2)
Martinez (did well when was given a chance)

    LB
Tutonda (Started this season well, I would give him a 2nd chance for L2)

    RW
Rodman (experienced and still can offer us something but needs to prove fitness)

    CM
Grant (did well for Plymouth in L2 so I would give him another chance)
Hargreaves (wasn't given a fair go by Barton but I feel if given a chance he will do well in L2)

    LW
Nicholson (if he stays it will be a miracle)

    CF
Daly (worked his socks off and will do well in L2 if can prove his fitness)
Ayunga (still very raw but too good for the National League but not good enough (yet) for L1 so see what he can do in L2)
Walker (good season but not played enough and if given a real chance he could become an asset)

    Loan out:
Ward, Hoole, Liddle, Mehew, Phillips, Tomlinson and Hulbert

Get rid: (either sell or give away on a free if no bugger will buy them)
    Barrett (offers us nothing)
Baldwin (was not good enough and doesn't deserve to stay)
Ehmer (was not good enough and doesn't deserve to stay)
Harries (was not good enough and doesn't deserve to stay)
Hanlan (started well but faded fast and just doesn't score goals)
Westbrooke (my biggest disappointment as was excited about his signing but not been good enough and I doubt will handle L2 football well)

Therefore, if we can keep the players I mentioned in the 'keep' section and loan out the youngsters, we will need 1 GK, 1 RB, 1 LB, 2 CB's, 1 RW, 1 LW, 4 CM's (some defensive and some attacking), 2 CF's = 13 players minimum for me needs to come in to the club.

According to Bristol Live Chelsea are releasing Luke McCormick on a free but whoever signs him will sign a sell on clause because he still has a year left on his contract If that is true JB get your finger out and make him an offer

Sorry old timer, im a bit lost on this. Its just the way I have interpreted has made me a tad confused so forgive me here <ok> If they are releasing him then they can't put any clause on any deal. If they are selling but no fee involved then yeah they can add a clause.

Also I like McCormick but I can't see him being worth good money for Chelsea to want to cash in on a sell on clause! Strange move on their part.

The way I read it on Bristol Live CJS was they were prepared to let him go on a free with that clause in the contract.
The article on Bristol live is entitled Chelsea Midfielder set to be rewarded for Bristol Rovers Form
