One of the worst films I've ever seen. It's not in the 'it's so bad, it's good' category, it's in the 'it's so bad it's ****ing awful catagory'.
The gravity of your question is huge, you're the only one who lepton the subject. It's a quantum leap of faith to assume otherwise.
He hasn't sold the club, he's transferred the ground from one of his companies to another, writing off £11m of debt in return. He wants to develop the land around the ground, but is having trouble raising the cash, as anyone looking at the accounts for the club sees a loss making business, whereas now they'll see the company looking to do the development is a profitable property company. The club still has a 999 year lease, so can't be kicked out. It's a sensible move for him and doesn't really make any difference to the club, other than it's now debt free so potentially easier to sell (particularly to anyone who fancies building their own ground).
I sat next to their owner at an event once. Personally I found him really pleasant, although I'm not sure I'd want to cross him in business. What he was absolutely focussed on was getting the area developed round the ground, with mutual benefit for him and the club. TWT what happens, but recent moves fit with what he was suggesting then, so no drama I wouldn't have thought.
He was well thought of when I worked there for a few years The Scunny fans I worked with liked him but like us they had the same frustration that most of the town were Man U Liverpool leeds fans so could never really progress
Phil Buckingham just did a piece on Grimsby on The Athletic, and if what he reports about John Fenty their major shareholder for the last umpteen years, who has just sold out. He to some degree makes the Allam's sound saint-like.
I agree it was absolutely awful, not expected of Cohen I remember the time when Grimsby team came after the game into the supporters club after the game,we drew 2-2.They didn’t stay long! Could never forgive Dave Gibbins from Humberside, who was, state was, a mate of mine from Boothferry estate supporting City, then he turned up in Grimsby Town gear . Sad they are out again, but rank them with the likes of Blunts and TWS
