I agree with that, so surely clubs then have to go by turnstile clicks for the actual attendance (for safety officials), as it's the only reliable way of recording the number of people in a ground.

Then the financial aspect of it, ie number of seats sold would then have to be a separate figure (to include all ST's purchased) - unless they are only counted at the point of sale.

So you would need two figures, the actual attendance, then the number of seats sold including ST's.

With some of the bigger clubs, let's use Man City purely for example, there could be a great disparity between the two figures, especially if an ST is being held for entitlement to privilege reasons, rather than actually attending every game come sun, wind or rain, especially on a cold November evening against Brighton at home, especially if it's on tv.

From a lower league level, I use to have an ST, and I would miss about 3 games per season, due to work commitments. I would give those tickets away, but there is no guarantee they would be used.

Also I've purchased cup tickets, taking advantage of my ST privilege (in the past), first to be served, but again there is no guarantee it would be used, if I was unwell by the time it came to match day.

Am I plastic? West Ham has never been the closest team to where I've lived, but I have lived closer to Old Trafford than anyone else on this forum.

    TL;DR

You can't even give Gillingham tickets away for free.

I never said I grew up there, I lived on the Quays in Imperial point for about 8 months in 2008/9, right next to the Lowry, I could read the red Old Trafford sign from my window.

I never said you did, I asked where you lived!

I was actually born 3 miles from OT, in Salford Royal, Eccles.

When did you live there? Media City days or further back when it was just the Quays?

You can and I have done. I don't know if other clubs did it, but you use to get so many vouchers with your ST book each season to give to friends or family. Although with those I can't remember if they were free or cost a fiver. Last ticket I gave away was for a Gills v Cardiff FA Cup game, when I fell ill and I did have a ticket for the Gills v Fleetwood game just before the virus, I wrote that down as a loss, as I knew my club couldn't afford the refunds, either that or I'm a mug, but it was money spent and that's how I tend to think. Generally the most I use to charge for tickets is a pint of beer or two.

2008/9, they were building media city at the time.
My mate wanted me to help him with his business and was a big united plastic, so got us a 2 bed apt overlooking the ground (well, across the water from it). Every morning when I looked out the window I could see it.

You must be pretty close to us. We live in Northern Moor. If you ever need tickets drop me a PM. We have season tickets that often don't get used.
