Once a week the residents of St. Mary's Home for the Elderly are allowed out for a day trip. They take their bottomless handbags and fill them high with Werther's Originals and small change for slowly counting out at the front of long Post Office queues and head for the little bus which waits on the verge. Granny St. Claire, Saints legend and octogenarian sexpot, is at the front of the line. She is wearing her biggest smile; this week she found her teeth in a cup of tea and bit that sexy Viscount Wilfried on the bum. It is a good week.

The girls from the home don't really get the bus so they can head into town. They are there for the driver, Parker. Parker has a cockney accent and calls everyone milady. He looks at you from under the brim of his grey hat with come-to-bed eyes. Granny St. Claire is a big fan. She thinks he might have been famous once. He played for England or was a puppet in a television show. One of those for sure.

Another reason that Granny likes Parker is that he is always good for a laugh. His bus is always breaking down but he just gets it going again. Just this week Parker saw his bus go down again. Granny watched him strip down to his underpants to change a gasket. She almost blew hers.

Fancy a bit of fun, Parker, she asks with that mischievous twinkle back in her eye for the first time in months.

Not right now, love, say Parker's deep and melancholy eyes.

I'm conflicted...a couple more wins and this is going to turn into Fifty Shades of Grey Hair.

You are lucky for this to be able to happen.

If we win this (which we really should) we'll open up a real possibility of finishing the season TWENTY points clear of relegation.

When you consider our results in 2021, that's crazy.

Goes to show both how good we were in the first half of the season, and how poor the relegation 'fight' has been this season.

It’s quite possible that 27 points, and a GD better than -20 or so would have been enough to avoid relegation this season. Saints obviously knew this would be the case at Christmas...

    Are Jack and Sally interchangeable?
I think I prefer them the other way round
Either way, Bedders needs a spell on the bench

Me too. Though when Sally came on last night he went straight to left back with Stephens reverting to CB. Sounds like Bedders is an injury doubt anyway.

Personally I think we've been decent for most of the season that players have been available. People say every club had to deal with injuries but whilst they reverted to proven backups we had to dip in to the academy which actually ended up with their own depleted squads facing relegation. At one time we had a complete team of first team regulars either out injured or suspended. Another interesting snippet courtesy of Adam Blackmore - we've won more home games this season than any season since 2015/16.

So with most players back, I can see a strong run in for these 3 games starting with a 3-0 win against Fulham.

That was an interesting point he made, just shows despite all the disappointments we all need to keep a perspective. At the end of the season, 72 clubs and their supporters would, generally, like to be where we will be at the start of next season.

They actually switched between the two. It was quite fluid.

Just realised this is a 3pm Saturday kick off. Even without going to the stadium that feels like a treat compared to 8.15 on a Tuesday!

Whoever plays football at that ridiculous time. They are meant to organise matches that clash with my lunchtime or my supper or when I am meant to be in church.

Won't 3 o'clock on a Saturday interrupt your afternoon nap?

Bednarek doubtful for this, he has an ankle problem which is why he was taken off at HT on Tuesday.

I'm okay with that. Means more Salisu (who I think I prefer anyhow).

It really has, hasn’t it? They stayed in the bottom 3 and didn’t really threaten anyone.
