Off Topic Hedging Bets

Not for me Bluey, but the wife's sister loves it.

Hot toast and sausages or a couple of fried eggs (or both) - now that's what I call living in the mornings.

 

Trust me to go to west wales for a week before Driphead opened the pubs and restaurants

Still plenty of fresh air and plenty of wine/lager/gin/bourbon etc to eke out the evenings

ps Problem though was I had to share it with the missus

 

Love a bit of marmite on my morning toast. Quite happy for sausage, bacon, mushrooms, hash browns and/or fried bread and, if I'm really lucky, some haggis. Don't like eggs in any form.

Unfortunately those are pleasures denied me at home. Either have to frequent a greasy spoon or stay at a hotel with a decent breakfast menu - preferably buffet - so I can stack my plate and set me up for the day. Nom nom!!!

 

Must say Bluey, it's the same for me - I was referring to holiday break breakfasts, and that makes them bit special. At home it's usually a coffee and a Kitkat first thing, but being away from home in different surroundings, I tend to push the boat out.

After that it's more coffee and half a pack of McVities chocolate digestives for elevenses. Skip any lunch because we're usually out and about, but like coming back late afternoon for beers and salty stuff like crisps and nuts on the patio if it's sunny - the dogs can do their heads in on the lawn whilst I watch on.

Evening meal is the highlight - after the dogs have had theirs, I get mine. Anything goes from lasagne to fish and chips as long as I've got the right bottle of wine (or two).

 

I used to have it in a pub in Oldbury-on-Severn.

Just stick loads under the grill.
I will use a toaster but often use the grill as I prefer one sided toast. Mrs remote thinks its a bit odd though.

 

OS, leaving Masky in charge in your absence pal...same rates as last year? This new friendship thingy, means a lot to Masky! Kisses and stay safe!

The earlier references to alcohol consumption goit me thinking (yes, it happens occassionally).
Do AA meetings apply the same 2 metre social distancing rules as everyone else, or is it 12 steps in their case?

Getting excited now. Washed the car, washed the dogs and hosed down the wife for good measure.

Underfloor "refreshments" stashed and 4 slice toaster boxed and waiting. Last minute fresh supplies from Tesco/Sainsbury being organised tomorrow morning - I'm not using my car, I've washed it - so that's down to others in the household.

Load up on Saturday morning, early lunch but no particular hurry because we've a later access time to the property because of additional cleaning required (bloody covid). A leisurely 3 hour run down the M5 so I'll miss the Brum game as a result though, but given the way it's gone this past few weeks, that could be a blessing.

I'll leave you in the capable hands of Masky who has assured me he will look after you all.

Loading up now ready for the off laptop tucked away so on phone. Just upset the wife.

She asked if there was room in the back for her makeup bag. I said when it was a makeup bag it was OK but now it's become a makeup sack it's more difficult.

 

And then the fight started.

 

Supposed to be packing up and heading home on Saturday after our week down here when - ello 'ello 'ello - who's that knocking at the door?

It was the owner of this cottage/bungalow who lives just across the lawns in the "big house". He lets the property through a national agency and they'd just told him the booking for next week starting Saturday had been cancelled at short notice.

They offered to put it back up on their website as a "last minute" offer in the hope they might get a booking in the next 48 hours, but he thought he'd have a chat with me first. Did we want to stay on at half the normal rental cost as a private deal? I told him it looked very much like me or nothing, so offered him a third of the cost and would transfer the money into his bank account while he waited.....

Result!!!!....

Won't be back for another week now so please keep the forum up to it's usual high standards please - and that includes you too Masky.....

 

In the absence of any notable football chat, I thought I'd give you an update on this thread. Getting some stick down here. Who said I'd got a bargain for an extra week down here?

It's pissed down for the last 3 days and I'm getting a shed load of earache from the dogs - all of them.

Went down to the massive Slapton Sands (the scene of that tragic D Day rehearsal) on Tuesday for a walk along the foreshore. Feck me - soaked to the skin and blown inside out.

Yesterday was nearly as bad and it got worse last night. One of the four legged dogs decided it wanted a crap and a piss at 2 o'clock in the morning in a force 10 monsoon - FFS why is me that has to get up and take the bugger out in the garden?

Should we pack up early and head back to "sunny" South Wales or leave it as scheduled for the weekend? Is it any better up there because I'm in danger of being washed away in South Devon as well as becoming an alcoholic.

 

No better here Sparks although sat in my car in Pontycymmer at present so may have a jaundiced view. It always rains here.

The forecast for the next few days is not good, a bit of sunshine and a lot of showers at best. May have to forego my usual Saturday trot around Porthcawl.

It's just miserable. Thinking back 12 months to the glorious weather we enjoyed in Lockdown Mk. 1.

I've just found my bowling kit out, ready for the new season (I can bend down now!!!!), bugger me I've had to order some new shoes as the old ones have split.
£75 has been a bit of a shock, last time I bought some was 2016, about £50. Still, got to do something Saturday afternoons and some week nights, at least I don't have to get up for work anymore hahahhaha
Have a good summer boys, it'll be interesting to see new faces in the teams and we'll soon be back to slagging players and managers off.
