Todays racing at Haydock was pencilled a while back now, but alas, were still in lockdown arnt we... Oh well, we'll be back on a racecourse soon i hope... Anyway, here's my selections for Haydocks split card, which i have to say is a great idea and im not sure why other course/cards arnt doing it... Most of these have some record of doing well in heavy conditions, not much more than that really... 1:25 - Corrieben River, 4/1 2:00 - Royal Air Force, 10/3 2:35 - Khaadam, 2/1 3:10 - Camprond,13/2 3:45 - Tomfre, 5/2 4:20 - Ugo Gregory, 6/1 4:55 - Fortified Bay, 7/2 5:35 - Eamon An Cnoic, 9/4 Good luck to all today...
I thought Bolshoi Ballet was the bet in the Derrinstown given that he managed to win when Aidan O'Brien's 3YO colts were struggling. Mac Swiney had 5 runs at 7F last year and 1 at a mile. That is not really a typical 12F horse's profile and Bolshoi Ballet looks an assured stayer to me. I thought the betting might have been closer but Bolshoi Ballet is 5/4 with Mac Swiney 5/2 and I can't bring myself to back Bolshoi Ballet at the early odds. I would imagine the prices may end up about 7/4 the pair, given that Mac Swiney is 7 lbs higher on official ratings at 116. In today's Lingfield race I wanted to be against Adayar. I am thinking that it was a poor race at Sandown when he was runner up to rank outsider Alenquer. Yibir did nothing for that form in the Dee Stakes. I get the feeling Charlie Appleby's early successes in the trials may fade away moving forward. Scope needs to find a good amount to get involved today and I feel the O'Brien pair may be the ones to come forward today. Kyprios has won this season and improved to 101 in the ratings afterwards. That leaves him 7 lbs behind Adayar on official figures but could have more to come for Moore. Stablemate Carlisle Bay went into my notebook last year and I thought he did well going from a maiden win to running in a group 3 just three weeks later. He was only beaten a length in 3rd place in the Group 3 race and that was a decent effort for a horse with so little experience. The race hasn't worked out very well since though and Carlisle Bay was not mentioned at all in Aidan O'Brien's stable tour earlier in the season. In the end, at the odds, I thought it was worth chancing that Frankie can do another super-sub on Moore and bring Carlisle Bay to victory. The Galileo Colt is open to improvement after just two starts and at 15/2 he was a decent price in a confused Derby trials scenario. 2.50 Lingfield Carlisle Bay 15/2
I feel blessed like many others im sure to be there that day Faugheen rocked up in the champion hurdle to beat Hurricane and Jezki. Not so blessed to be there the day Benie fell tho
Afternoon all, my arrows for today although I'm not expecting any winners 1.55 ASC DREAMLOPER 5/2 2.30 ASC WITHOUT A FIGHT 5/1 3.40 ASC MOTAKHEYYAL 16/1ew 7 places 5.25 ASC BASILICATA 9/1 3.45 HAY TOMFRE 5/2 Just looking at the football and surely BRISTOL CITY 15/2 to beat Brentford. City have been rubbish but Brentford can't be caught in 3rd so surely they will rest all players with that in mind ready for the playoffs. Good luck all
Today's Terestrial Telly Tricky Trotters ..... avoid or cash out if possible! I seem to be having a "dream theme" day, but it wasn't planned that way! Asc 155 Dreamloper 230 Without A Fight 305 Desert Dreamer 340 Zip ew 415 Louganini Ling 215 Loving Dream 250 Adaya 325 Double Or Bubble 400 Turn On The Charm cw Love Dreams for fc Hay 310 Rowland Ward Good luck all
Sherbet Lemon at 28/1 wins an awful looking Cheshire Oaks. Almost 9 lengths behind Noon Star at Wetherby it is only really fans of the Stoute filly who could have been encouraged by this result. Earlier my pick Dreamloper lost by a short head. As ever the noted danger prevailed.
Bloody annoying = online bookies refusing bets once the race time has been reached, even though it can clearly be seen that horses are still loading. After Weavers comments about Sherbet Lemon at 28-1, I tried to place an ew but wasn't allowed
More Derby tripe at Lingfield. Carlisle Bay was simply there as a pacemaker today but even though he ran his guts out the stablemate was not good enough to take advantage. Kyprios doesn't look worth running in the Derby and Aidan has sent some right rubbish over this season. Adayar looked bad value to me coming in yet I thought he was going to win in dour fashion but Third Realm had much more toe and stayed on well enough for the upset. As I had suspected Appleby's seemingly decent Derby hand is unravelling.
First, third and fourth from that Aintree race but Copperless has hacked up there - compensation for Aintree
The Victoria Cup handicap is the type of flat race I absolutely hate - 27 runners over 7 furlongs. By the time you have factored in draw, going, form, pace, jockey's horoscope and El Nino you might as well chuck a dart ................. so as I live in Germany I'll go for the German 2000 Guineas winner Fox Champion
But not the German trained horse Anaxa! Parent's Prayer backed ew but now down to 7 runners - I'm bolloxed today
Third Realm 10/1 for the Derby. Sweet Baby Jesus. Still something has to win the Wazoo Derby I suppose.
The time was 6 seconds faster than the Oaks trial. Carlisle Bay had an RPR of 101 and was beaten 36 lengths, so that puts Third Realm about 2 stone above Frankel at 173, mayswell give him the trophy just now.
I keep getting "bad gateway" errors and statements that they "could not satisfy your request" it is not as if I was asking for a blowjob or anything. I guess I'll just have to remain unsatisfied. I have emailed feedback to ATR on several occasions and not once have I ever had a reply, even when I have been pointing out glaring errors on their site and they never correct their mistakes either. It is free to register on The Sporting Life website for replays and equally France Galop offer free live French races and replays once you complete a simple registration process.
Carlisle Bay's OR was also 101, as was stablemate Kyprios. Perhaps ominously, Seamie Heffernan had said of Kyprios :- "He's right up there or just behind the best of them." At least he got the "behind" part right.
