Watford v Swansea City Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Vicarage Road Date - 8 May 2021 Kick off - 12:30 Following their hard fought 2–1 home win over relegation threatened Derby County, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is a trip to Vicarage Road for the last game of the regular season against promoted Watford. Last Saturday, Wayne Rooney's Derby side suffered a sixth straight defeat, despite going in front through a Tom Lawrence header. Former Derby youngster Morgan Whittaker headed the Swans level before Connor Roberts volleyed in a fine winner. Derby are three points above the relegation zone in 21st, while Swansea climb to fourth. At the same time, Brentford's Ivan Toney scored his 30th goal of the season to equal the Championship record and help his side secure a third-placed finish as they beat second-placed Watford. The Bees had the better of a goalless first half which saw Marcus Forss have a goal disallowed. But they had to wait just 53 seconds after the restart to go ahead as Forss slotted in from close range at the far post after Sergi Canos had got to the byeline. Having been fouled in the box by Francisco Sierralta, Toney calmly slotted home the penalty after an hour to equal Glenn Murray’s record but with a game to go. The Swans have played the Hornets on 50 previous occasions, winning 23, losing 17 with 10 matches drawn. In the game played earlier in the season at The Liberty, the Swans ran out deserved 2-1 winners: Turning to Saturday, the Swans need a point to guarantee 4th place and with it a home fixture in the second leg of the Play-Offs against either Bournemouth or Barnsley. With Watford possibly being ‘on the beach’ and the Swans focussed now on the Play Offs, it is possible that the game itself could be a damp squib. I’m going for a 1-1 draw with the Swans likely to face Bournemouth away in the first leg of the Play Off semi-final.
Thanks for that Taff. So we have reached the end of the regular season at last looking to the play offs even though I suppose we should really have been in the autos if...... A positive result at Vicarage Road will give us a home game second leg in the semis which is supposed to be an advantage...so assuming the Hornets are on the beach and clueless sets us up to go for a win I can see a win for us....
Thanks for this Taff and all the ones you have done this season, they are appreciated. I think this will be a draw, so its 1-1 for me.
Jeez, you never let up, do you. For the second season " clueless " has guided his team to the play offs. Yet still you seek to insult and demean him What has been your contribution to the success of the team these last few years ? Nothing worth discussing, I'll wager. So, if Cooper is " clueless " what should we call you ? If you need any help .....
Is that the Royal we because I think you're in the minority on here. I'm sure he wouldn't want me to fight his battles for him but as I know him and his involvement within and what he's done on behalf of the Club for many years I'd say he's more than earned the right to criticise as he sees fit .I doubt theres a more commited supporter of the Club
